Anyone got recommendations for cat toothpaste and how to use it?
My 9 year old cat had to have more teeth removed yesterday so now he is down to a set of canines and carnassials on one side and just one carnassial on the other. He was getting one small sachet of wet food a day and the rest of his food is a mix of the Royal Canin dry dental and oral stuff so he really has to crunch it - supposed to remove the tartar. I've also variously tried stuff in his water (didn't like that because it seemed to put him off drinking), stuff that gets sprinkled on his wet food (he's not keen but I might add it intermittently again) and toothpaste that I used to smear on his fur so he had to lick it off (he hated that). I thought we had things under control but I was wrong. I'd really really like to avoid another general and tooth removal for him so any suggestions gratefully received.

We have two BSH from the same litter and both of them are prone to plaque - the vet say's its probably largely genetic but is compounded because one of them won't eat any dry food (not even dreamies) so they're on a wet food diet. I also didn't want to put anything in their water as their thirst drive isn't particularly strong so I didn't want to do anything to put them off from drinking.

Having spoken to several vets we now add plaque off powder to their last meal of the day - they're both very food focused and got used to the taste quickly. We also use anident enzyme gel, which has made the biggest difference. I put a small blob on my finger and they're happy to lick it off like a treat! I try to that daily after their last meal - consistency seems to be key.

Apologies if those are things you've tried already - I don't think there's an easy answer.
