Cataracts; any personal experiences?

During a dental check up, my vet noticed cataracts in my horse's eyes (the stable was dark and the vet was wearing a head torch) two in one eye and one in the other. I was able to look myself and they are super small (like little specks) and I was told at that size they would not be negatively impacting him. The vet believes there is a chance he was born with them and we will check them again in six months to see if they have progressed. Said horse is 12 and passed a five stage vetting 5 years ago (although I imagine they could have easily been missed during the vetting). He is very happy in himself and showing no signs that they are bothering him.

The only experience I have of cataracts are in elderly relatives, and I'm not sure how worried I should be. I would be really interested in any personal experiences as this is all new to me!

Bought a horse at 7 with one in one eye. Vet thought it was potentially one he was born with and unlikely to cause problems. At 19 its still not changed and causes no issues at all.
