My cocker spaniel apparently has some cloudy colour in her eyes and I've been told it is most likely cataracts. Is there anything I can do about this? I fear my beautiful, beautiful girl is growing old too quickly and there's nothing I can do about it. :(

ETA - I am booking her in at my local veterinary surgery, I was just wondering what advice anyone can give to me? She's around 8-9 years old and I haven't noticed any struggle with her sight, she seems to recognise me like she does normally etc.

My mams young husky had on op to imprve his sight, but he was only about 2 at the time, and he has juvenile diabetes, so his came with the teritory.
There are different kinds of cataracts, your dogs seem more age related, and if it's a cocker apologies if not they are suspetible to them later in life, there are drops and apparently diet can be improved to help the condition, have a word with the vet or have a read, I have heard adjustment to the diet can help.
He may still have vision it will maybe be blurred which is better for him to atleast adjust, they do better than we give them credit for, he still has his snout to guide him.:D

My border has them in both eyes now, his sight is very limited in his right eye, but is managing fine with his left.

We were told he is too old to risk an op but I really dont think his quality of life has chaged at all!

Thanks for the reassurance guys, I can't bear to think of my poor girl in any discomfort. Will read up on them and get her in to a vets.

Thanks again. :)
