Cats and raw feeding

Have know a few raw fed cat, they had a varied diet.........rabbit, pigeon, rats, mice etc.....

Basically if they caught it they ate it!;)

Does anyone feed their cats on a raw diet? If so, what do you feed them and approx how much does it cost? Thanks

Good luck. I tried, and found that if it doesn't come as a mousse or served from an expensive looking packet, they turn their noses up.
Mine are also lazy gits who don't catch stuff.

Raw feeding costs about the same as decent processed foods unless you have a tame butcher. It is important to include liver and heart in the diet as cats need a source of taurine which is not found in muscle meat.

I have six cats - only two will eat raw and one will only eat dry food - that is what her breeder used.

I have been feeding cats raw for about 13 years now. I've had five cats in that time, three still living now, and all took to it with no problems.

We feed a good mix - chicken wings, pet mince, offal, fish, eggs, etc.

I'm not sure of cost - it's less than any commercial food I'd actually be happy to feed - probably more expensive than cheap rubbish food.

We found that you have to get cats used to it slowly - you can't suddenly present them with a chicken wing and expect them to know what to do with it. But once they get the idea they're off & away.

For my crimes ,used to breed and show (so boring!) British Shorthair cats;they were fed raw, wings and tripe if you can believe it ! Because Brit shorthairs are shown quite..ur..rounded..they also always has a bowl of Iams avalaible. Did very well, many Champions and a couple of Grands, but it was soooo boring at those shows.

My neighbor has British Shorthairs. Such beautiful cats - and like little rugby balls.

Simba (sadly no longer with us) sitting in my house (he was a regular visitor).

Ooh a sliver tabby, mine were blues/blue cream tortie (dilute tortie) Creams, and whites ,orange eyed and blue eyed. The eyes were incredible, huge like owls and the same colour as tangerine peel.

Mine eats (live) raw mice, birds and rabbits, and turns his nose up at cat food (he will eat sachests but they make him sick!) - I wish he wouldn't decapitate them in the house though - usually on my daughter's bedroom carpet, leaving blood and guts (and headless bodies!) all over the place. Daughter is now trying to sell him to various unsuspecting classmates....she wants a guinea pig instead!
