I have an 18 year old cat that has been treated with Broadline flea and wormer for the last year or so, used Frontline before that but thought it wasn't working as well as it should so changed to Broadline. For the last six months he has started showing his age, getting a bit wobbly in the back legs and sleeping a lot more but still loving his food and jumping onto my lap in the evenings. I treated him as normal day before yesterday and his mobility deteriorated overnight, he began to fall over everytime he tried to stand up, he still wants his food but only eating a mouth full then walking away. Not sleeping but trying to sit up all the time and has failed to jump up onto the chair. It as if he has had a stroke. Decided this morning that it was time to call it a day as I was up most of the night with him being sick. We both fell asleep at about 5 this morning and he woke me at 9.30 mewing, he was still wobbly but better than he was yesterday, ate all his breakfast then got onto the dogs bed and fell fast asleep. He has steadily improved through the day and I am beginning to wonder if he has had an adverse reaction to the Broadline. Anyone else experienced this?

No I've never heard of anything like it. I'd give the vet a call, just in case.
 
I will ring vet in the morning, was going to take him this evening to have him checked over but my parents called over as my dad loves this cat and wanted to see him before I took him incase he was PTS. As soon as my dad walked in he got up and mewed for food, my dad always looks after him if I am away and he associates him with food. Cat walked to food cupboard and then to his dish so dad fed him, he ate it all and then mewed to be picked up and proceeded to sit on my dad's lap purring and pushing his head into dad's hand if he stopped stroking him. Huge improvement on this morning so decided to see how he is overnight again. Gone back into dogs bed now and is fast asleep with the dogs.

Very strange. At least he's better.
 
Poor cat has had a stroke but he is eating plenty again and although he is still falling over a lot he seems contented and not in any pain. Vet thinks he is in good health otherwise for his age so he is home and we will keep going. Vet not sure if his balance or angle of his head will improve but as long as he is comfortable and not distressed he will be looked after.
 
Ah poor little thing, sorry to hear he has had a stroke but glad he's feeling better and not distressed. Hope he stays comfortable, he sounds quite a little character.
 
He came with his brother from RSPCA 18 years ago this month as stable cats. They lived out, unhandled until about two years ago when they both realised that inside was warm with very comfy furniture to lay on. Unfortunately lost his brother in September 2016 when he was run over on our lane. This one has moved in full time and sleeps on my bed. He is a great little cat and has been a fantastic mouser over the years. I love him to bits and he has always been my Dad's favourite as he has always been able to pick him up and cuddle him. Will be a sad day when the end comes but he will be loved and looked after until then.
 
I love cats like him. He's a lucky boy, what a great life. Freedom in his youth and now comfort & care in his grand old age, perfect.
 
My little cat had another stroke which left him unable to walk more than two steps without falling over and wouldn't eat so yesterday he was put to sleep. It was very peaceful and the young vet who came out to do it was brilliant with both the cat and me. Eighteen years saw him going from a fiesty, unhandlable stable cat to a cwtchy lap cat that slept on the bed every night. Will miss him but know it was the best decision for him.
 
Ah that's sad news CC, sorry to hear he's gone. 18 is a great age, he had a wonderful life with you and a peaceful ending. Sending you hugs and hoping you are ok today x
