Yes I know its all about dogs but........

It snowed really heavily where I live last night and one of my friends called and said there's a cat outside her house and its filthy and thin and in about a foot of snow and what should she do. She has a cat eating dog so couldn't let it in.

Now... It was fat and clean I would have said leave it...it'll go home. But, its filthy and thin...so I took it in. Its now warm and dry and has had some food.

I've put the word out that I've got said cat but I can't see that it belongs to anyone, maybe its got lost?? Who knows??

That's five I have now....all appeared over the last few years. All full of fleas and ear mites and worms and thin and not cared for.

Sick of people who get animals and don't look after them! Even the barn (feral) cats are well fed and have wormer in their food and somewhere warm and dry to sleep.

So....if no one claims her she will be staying. Neutered if she's not already and will be well looked after.

Animals are just another disposable item to some people. Makes me really sad.

Poor cat, well done for taking him/her in. It is possible it has been lost for a while, might be worth getting the vet to scan for a microchip when you take it in.

Thank you. Couldn't leave her outside last night. It was just awful with the snow and so cold.

Yes I'll take it to the vet..when I can get my car out haha. Loads of snow!

I've also put notices up in the shop, pub and pet shop.

Poor little girl. She's eaten and used the litter tray. I hope she has a home but I'm a bit doubtful.

People are now saying I'm the mad cat woman!!??. No....they've found me and I'm too soft to turn any animal that needs a bit of a helping hand away.

Talking about cats, why do people like the local Cat protection league and other rescue centers say that a cat can not go to a home that has a dog.

I have 2 lovely cats that live in my yard and have always got on with any dog i have had.
My dog also gets on with the cats around my road.

I was hoping to get a young cat or kitten for my Mum as we have just lost my Dad (buried him yesterday)but I think I will have to find one that does not come from a rescue center.

Hi paulineh,

They don't always not let cats go to homes with dogs. The rescue centre I worked at assessed each cat and dog and rehomed cats withs dogs with no problem.

My cats were introduced slowly to my dog and visa versa. Most cats and dogs will settle with time and it shouldn't be a problem.

My dog will chase cats that are not ours when outside but all of mine have been introduced gradually and the cats have always got somewhere to go where the dog is not allowed. Now, the dog knows not to chase the cats and it is the cats that stalk and pounce on him!

Aw poor kitty, think they all must come to the surface in this weater, I collected a 10 week old female kitten from PDSA yesterday, she had been handed in found wondering in the snow.

A little thin and grubby but seems ok. I'm fostering her for a local charity as if she didnt get a home she would of been put to sleep yesterday.

Its so sad isnt it - i've searched all the missing pet pages on the net and no-one is missing her :-(

I cant keep her long term as my monster cat doesnt cope but at least she gets a chance at a forever home and a family, she is so friendly and not scared of people, sat on me purring last night and rubs against your legs, brave little thing X

Well done you, for saving another poor cat. I have 4 who adopted me, as well as 2 dogs.

"People are now saying I'm the mad cat woman!!??. No....they've found me and I'm too soft to turn any animal that needs a bit of a helping hand away. "

And what's wrong with that, anyway? It's always been my ambition when I get old, to be the Mad Cat Woman, who stand on her doorstep at 4 in the morning shouting "here kitty, kitty, KITTY, KITTY!" hehehehehehehe.

I rescued 3 from the floods yesterday. Mum and two kittens. We found them stranded on the side of the road surrounded by deep water. Went back after our hack and took them home. All were sick wet sneezing and starving. RSPCA lady came to collect them last night. Couldn't keep them as I have two already and these were all sick poor things. Got to follow up today to see where and how they are as I've found a home for the kittens. They were very very happy to be rescued and given food and warmth.

Just a quick follow up :)

Took girly this morning to the vets for her spey operation. We scanned her and no microchip.

Also asked if they could check if she had a scar when they put her under annaesthetic in case she had already been speyed.

i know its not ideal to anaesthatise if unneccessary but had no idea if she had already been 'done' so it was unavoidable.

Called vets just a few mins ago and shes fine :) Wasnt speyed already  but is fine :D and i'll be picking her up on the way home from work.

Plus...shes now got a home for life
