Catton Park was our 2nd BE100 ever, im not sure what I was thinking when I entered it as compared to Shelford it is a little bit trickier and bigger :p .

I had good times for Catton so we set off at 8.00 from the yard. Twizzy was warming up well for dressage and I was looking forward to getting a good dressage score. I thought she went well, stayed in a firm outline, striding out and forward. However the section was being marked harshly and I got a 42. I had comments such as nice centre line = 5 !!! surely nice CL = 7/8 But never mind.

Onto SJ. After our PC rally last Wednesday Caroline said I would just have to be careful as the ground can be rather unlevel in places. I shouldn’t of worried she went in and jumped out of her skin and produced another clear :)

XC. When we walked the course there were a couple of fences that I wasn’t overly 100% about. There is a step up to a rail, a drop hedge. But all in all an up to height course that was going to need some positive riding from me. Well she flew :D from the moment we set of she didn’t feel like she was going to be stopping at anything. The step as I imagined was a little bit ‘oooooo let me have a good look first’ but she went and she was very spooky was galloping round the trees as people seem to like hiding in the not to scare horses! We got 16TF which works out that I lost about 0.5 secs at ever fence which I personally don’t think is to bad. We came 21st and once again Twizzy has jumped ANOTHER DOUBLE CLEAR. Who cant be happy with that :p

Well Done :D
What section were you in? I was in section B and i came 15th.
The course was a tricky one, not necessarily the fences themselves but some lines and approaches were nasty, especially the one at the top of the hill!! It rode nicer than it looked though.

Where are you at next?

Really well done! She looks lovely in the dressage pics - 42 does seem a bit harsh.
Love the pics, particularly the last, it's so nice to have a smiley pic! :)
I'm at Buckminster too, so quite a few of us then.

Lovely pictures and well done on your double clear :D

Random question ... howcome you are doing dressage in a grackle? Is it because it is BE or is it when you get to a certain level that you're allowed to wear one?

Well done hun, only run once at Catton in 2004 (first ever PN) eliminated for taking wrong exit out of water (last fence) Nice event though, enjoyed it. Good result

I know i was shocked to find a 42 dressage score near my name, its the worse iv ever got :/ . but I guess you cant please them all :(

I do everything in a grackle when I can she crosses her jaw and runs away if i dont wear one, can just about to a dressage test without on tho......

Sorry I didn't mean that to come across as personal! What I meant, is that I thought grackles were dressage illegal? Have I got this wrong or is it because of the level you compete at or something similar that you can wear it?

your allowed a grackle at BE in the dressage I think its just pure dressage when your not allowed one :)

no idea what dressage judge was seeing, she just isnt a 42 mark horse, grrrrrrrr.

well done for another fab double clear :) will peek at pics when i get home, big pat for twizz monster from me!!!!

Just wanted to add, must be something about greys - I had the same with mine the other week at BE100 but we got 46!!!! That's the worst score I've ever had on any horse, ever! As above, she just isn't a '46' horse, even if she's not at her best. A few weeks before that, we got 28 at Aston. I didn't feel the tests were all that different. We also then went on to get a double clear that day and I felt as if the judge had literally stolen my rosette from me :(

It's ever so frustrating, but something we have to learn to live with at this level (and all levels I suppose to an extent). Hopefully the judges at Buckminster will be grey-lovers :D
