Caught my tack box thief!!!

Years ago one of the staff where I kept my horse was found out!

My side reins went missing and a while later my lovely leather three fold girth. I spotted my side reins on her horses peg but being the wimp I was then and the fact that she was a bit of a cow I wasn't brave enough to take them back.

I did though mention that I'd seen them to the YO friend who was a loveable rogue! He stole them back for me! :D

The girth I found several months later when I was given a lift to the yard and had to hold her saddle on my lap. I noticed the big stain in the centre of the girth and recognised it as one that had got there when I'd spilled some Stockholm Tar on it. When I dropped of her saddle in the tack room I removed the girth - put it in my travel box and then left with my horse for a show - we stopped on the way to drop the girth off at my home.

Well what a fuss she made - making out that the girth had been especially made for her horse and boyfriend tried to convince me that he had bought it for her. I just said nothing which so infuriated her. In hindsight I should have spoken to the yard owner as we had also had a late night theft of gear - and funny how the majority of it belonged to this particular person! Some odds and ends were found lying in the paddock next door - she got a new saddle, bridle and lovely rugs from the insurance money.

Your original thread made me laugh out loud.

I just find it incomprehensible when people take stuff on yards - over the years many where I am have had shovels and forks broken and just left for you to find and have to shell out to replace. I had someone not maliciously but stupidly using sponges of mine which I used for keeping important bits of the horse clean (separate bits of sponge for eyes, nose, under tail, big baths etc) to clean up goodness knows what and would leave them vile and dirty back on my tack box. I know it's only sponges which barely cost a thing but it's the transfer of things between horses they should have been concerned about.

What annoys me most about relatively inexpensive items being taken is that it thwarts my plans. I may have wanted to wash my horse but can't because the sponge was taken, bucket broken etc.
And then there is also the inconvenience of having to go shopping to replace those items.

What a brilliant, genius idea! I love things like this!!

I'd have paid good money for a front row seat when she finally got what was coming. The cherry on the cake would be reading her dressage score card comments "below average performance, unsure about authenticity of neck markings in this breed". :D

Our tea leaves at previous yard used to take our Aero hot chocolate to make hot drinks for themselves, that is until we left one out with some laxatives mixed in it  Both guilty parties were poorly, funny that  It never went down after that time :D

Brilliant! I hope she eventually apologises and replaces some of what she's taken. (And now I know what purple spray can be used for... bought some as it said I should have it in a first aid kit, but no indication of why!!) :)
