There is a person at my uni who i used to be fairly close with. I met her in the first week at uni and we spent alot of time together till about 6/8 months ago when she dropped me like a hot potatoe and hung out with another group. She then began not showing up but whenever i did see her i would chat away about all sorts of stuff.

Most of the way through first year she told people that she had been on the under 21's eventing team and had gone 3* regulary and had done a couple of 4*'s but found it too much.

She has a youngster which she has had persistant lameness issues with. He had several months off over winter, then when he came back into work she was suddenly able to ride him out for several hours in just a halter.

Call me cynical but i was rapidly smelling BS.

I just looked up her BE record.

Nada, nothing. Not even an intro!

I just dont get it, why bother lying? I mean she had nothing to prove to me, i've never done any offical competitions ever. I did do one interdressage test but that was last year. On the other hand, it has provided me with some entertainment today!

Some people believe the dream in their heads that they would like to be reality. Some people just lie.

Just do your own thing, and leave others to do theirs (so long as it doesn't interfere with you/yours) :D

Ditto the above. Why should you even care if she's not hurting anyone else but herself? We all have a tendency to exaggerate - very few people are brutally honest all the time, especially with themselves. If she feels the need to make up an alternate reality she might have some serious problems for which she should deserve compassion. Until you know for sure, leave her be and go your own way. You'll certainly be happier for it. :)

oh god, yeah i backed off from her months ago. I just found it so silly to bother lying when it's so easy to check, especially when all she does (when she turns up to uni) is tell everyone how they are training their horses wrong. Next time she starts i'll just be smiling sweetly planning out my next schooling session!
