Firstly, just a caution.
Last weekend, OH and I attended a show, Shires, Shetlands, Donkeys and Driving. We went to the Horsebox park and were talking to a friend who had brought some of his Shires. A horsefly started flying around one of his mares. She kicked out twice, swung her bum a little then kicked out again. her hoof went through the wall of a Transporters horsebox, just like it was wet tissue. It left a massive hole. Luckily nobody was hurt and the horse was fine too.
Just imagine though if someone had been stood there.
People often walk through the rows of horseboxes, so PLEASE remember and also advise people to be careful, as this may be dangerous.

Now for the mini rant.
Hubby and I run a horse and donkey carriage driving business. Today, hubby took some customers out for a drive, which the customers thoroughly enjoyed. However, when he took a short drive through the village, he found kids on bikes whizzing past and infront of the horse, trying to frighten him. Luckily our cob is steady as a rock. However, the next thing, the kids started trying to climb onto the vehicle (in this case a 140 year old Victoria) they were unable to get a grip.
But, WHERE were the parents? Do they know what their kids are up to? Do they not realise how dangerous this could have been. There were two children in the Victoria.
Why can't parents (some, by no means all) parents teach their kids respect and to behave.

OK. That's me finished

I know its a pain, especially with clients on board, but I think the only answer is out with the mobile, and call the police. The parents may pay attention when they're up in court.
Either that, or run them over, but we all know where that would end up.

he should take luminous (preferably indelible) spray paint and spray them with it, then call the police and tell them what to look for! that's really dangerous... if your cob wasn't such a saint, and had swerved and hit a car or something... doesn't bear thinking about. i'd tell the police... it might not do anything, but it's something to warn them with next time (although i pray there isn't a next time.)
i can't understand that nasty mischief-making mentality, i'm afraid, the little gits need some discipline.

I sympathise...when my mare was 5 I used to ride her through a (council) housing estate as a shortcut...the kids used to run up and HUG her back legs (to be friendly cos they liked horses).
Can you imagine?
Thank God she's never kicked....but can you imagine the parents if she did?

My goodness what is wrong with some children and their parents today? Sadly, I think that discipline seems to have gone out of fashion and a lot of parents don't give a damn about what their children do - very much a case of out of sight out of mind. Wonder why they ever had children in the first place if they have so little interest in them?

Very tempting Bex1984, unfortunately, he had small children on board, wouldn't set a good example. The whip was probably sitting in the whip holder, surprised the kids didn't try to nick that!!!
Our boy is a saint on the road

Its not just with animals you see this kind of behaviour.

In our town the young lads on their mopeds try to cut cars up to make them skid/crash!!!!!!
