After posting something on Facebook about the chances of us selling Dolly a woman was very interested and wanted to come visit her and poss put down a deposit. That's when the sick feeling erupted in my stomach im so worried about where she goes :( This woman seemed lovely but in the end decided we will meet the bridge once she is weaned not now.... ONE OF YOU LOT BETTER TAKE HER ;):D:o

I didn't realize you were selling
They're both beautiful! :D

Yes we are ... the land just wont stand up to the pair of them, and with me going to Uni soon my mum will be left with two as my sister doesnt really "do" horses unless its warm and not muddy

Thank you x

Oh hun! I had no idea :o Sorry :(
You're welcome :) X

Awwwww! *Squweee* :D
Love the pic of her looking over the stable door :D

It's a shame you will be selling her on but on the other hand at least you are being very responsible about it all so well done you! ;)

Lovely pics. Plenty of people will be interested in her so no rush but maybe keep a list of names and numbers so you can talk to people when the time comes.

Ahhh she is perfect!!

I love her lickle squishy snozz!

I would love love to take her Abbie.... Finances need to improve first :( I really hope shysmum *cough cough* pulls her finger out ;) ;) xx

Shysmum has no choice I will post her over 1st class ;) x but no it's a while off yet and as said above a lot can happen in 6 months

She's growing up to be a dear little thing. I too didn't realise you would be selling. Like you, I'd be concerned where she'd end up - and would be doing everything in my power to keep her until you can at least break her in and sell her as a nice little riding horse.

You are cruel. Rarely have I seen a foal suffer so much :p Seriously though, they both look very good. Shame about selling Dolly but probably the right thing if you don't have the time/space.

And I have honoured them with my 1000th post

Oh hun, i am sure i dont need to tell you how pecious she is, her character, her nature and everything, could you rather loan her out so you can keep tabs on her and incase your circumstances change and you can have her back. I more horse wouldnt cause any less damange to your field.

What a great idea :).

Very cute pics, she really is adorable.

People on here need to remember that Abbie didn't plan this foal. she bought Tessy as a riding horse for her own pleasure. Another horse on the land is obviously not viable and Abbie is going to do the sensible thing when the time comes. She didn't plan the foal, she just wanted a riding horse, she will be off to uni in the near future and so won't be able to train and break in Dolly. Asking how she can bear to part with Dolly all the time is just going to make it harder for her, cut her some slack.

Abbie, you have done a fantastic job with Tessy thro her unexpected foaling etc. we all know how hard it will be to let Dolly go, but be assured that in the circumstances, you Will be doing the right thing. I take my hat off to you.

I agree with this entirely, once she's weaned she'll grow up much better if she can be in a home with other horses her age, they learn a lot from each other being in a gang of like minded babies for a good few years. I'm never a fan of one youngster on their own in a group of older horses.

I bred a baby a few years back

I too was planning to sell, but after bonding with them for 6 months or so it would have been to heartbreaking.

Here he is now 4 years later

you make room somehow:)

Boxers - no one is trying to make it harder for Abbi, it is just peoples opinions and just giving other suggestions, because she had such a big following i think all HH feel we all want what is best for her, so give us some slack.......

She could go on yearling grass livery for 3 years, which would give her company and only cost about £15 a week (i would get a job delivering newspapers to pay that), or cut out sweets, its amazing where one can find that money. It would be lovely for Abbi to have the chance to take her to some inhand yearling shows etc, and it would be very sad if something dreadful heappened to her, there is a post running at the moment about a horse sold on again.

Whatever you do Abbi we will all support you, but if we could change things for you i am quite sure we all would. Good luck

I'm sorry but I physically cannot do both, I'm off to uni meaning no time and it's unfair to leave my parents with two. I will get jumped on for saying this I love Dolly but I don't want to keep her I never signed up for a foal. It's not realistic

You don't need to justify yourself to anyone TB! ;)

You are doing the right and sensible thing.

Good luck when the time comes to say goodbye, but as long as you vet her new home carefully there is no reason why you can't/won't stay in touch and watch her grow up.

Enjoy the time you have. ;)

I think your being very mature about it.

What people need reminding of is that you only ever wanted the one riding Horse. You did not know you had an in foal mare when you bought Tess, so you are not too blame. You have made the best of this situation and given Dolly the best start in life. I am excited for you when you can start ridden work again :)

She's so pretty :)
Its a shame u have to sell but I think if u are going to uni then its a sensible decision however I would look into loaning or selling to someone on here as what better way to stay in touch with how she is doing, for u+us :D
Loaning would be great as one day u could have her back, after all uni isn't forever and when u finish uni she may be ready to start her career as a riding horse and you may be ready/in a position to teach her :)
Good luck. What are u planning to do at uni? X
