Am hoping you lovely peeps can help :)

A friend of mine is desperate for a cavalier pup and we cannot find a pup from health tested parents

There are so many being advertised and several calls I have made on her behalf all say no tests. One even told me 'to get a life' when asking whether health testing was done :o One lady said the pups don't get tested for 'it' until they are 6 weeks old, however I don't know what 'it' is  and being a total numpty I didn't ask :o

If anyone knows of any decent breeders of cavaliers near London/south east please let me know - PM if you would prefer

Thanks in advance :)

It's a shame Carey has been banned, her parents are top breeders and could have pointed you in the right direction, oh well, agendas and all that!

Ring a breed society, any club worth their salt should have a list of reputable breeders.

A breed club should be the first port of call before websites/Epupz/Gumtree/small ads etc, it's not like buying a car :)

I would still cross-check with a breed club or check with someone experienced in the breed.

I have checked out my own breed on there and while the majority are good, there are some that make my teeth itch, for example, there are ads that say 'parents health tested' but which don't say for *what* they are tested and more worryingly, don't mention the results (the important bit - come on, it's just a few numbers....) in fact, they are nowhere to be found, and lots of ads with lovely pics and big fancy words, but ya know, they ain't all that.....don't be sold a pup, literally!

I spoke to a 'breeder' once who said she had grey pups out of two black and red parents, which is impossible, that's basic stuff - there's more to being a breeder than reversing a female into a male twice a year!

Thanks for replies so far :)

I passed on the numbers for some clubs and rescues and welfare groups although she has decided to go with a pup. A club/society she spoke with were not overly helpful and rather sharp which has put her off calling anymore :( Partly why I am trying to help her by making calls

I found some breeders from dog magazines and trawling internet for breeders, including the kennel club website, but most breeders had no litters or only had Blenheims - the one colour she doesn't want (last 3 were Blenheims).

Thanks for links will have a look :)

I contacted the Cavalier Club when we got our cavalier http://www.thecavalierclub.co.uk/start.html
they were very helpful and gave me the number of a lovely lady who had puppies. She is in Lincolnshire and all of hers are health checked. Not sure how far your friend is wanting to travel/where she is but if shes interested I can get you her number. :)

Edit: Just read where you are.. still if you are interested let me know, would definately recommend ringing the cavalier club. :)
