Hi all, I don't like having pictures up here so will take them down very soon! Just quickly wondering (I think I asked something similar before) do these look like 'pedigree' cavvies to you, or do you think they have some king charles or springer blood? Especially the black boy, he is a working dog in a cavvie body! They may well just be cavvies that look slightly different, but wondered :) They are in my album on my profile!

Thanks :) Yes, blenheim girl has a short snout, and is a bit heavier in build, more stocky. She also has larger eyes, and different energy levels to our boy! He could run for hours and hours, very intelligent (they both are really), very athletic, can really jump! Quite lanky too, to my eyes anyway. He has SO much energy, walks very fast and runs whenever possible. :)

In the album on the OP's user profile.

Not all purebred's are textbook 'breed standard' - I see loads of pics of GSD 'crosses' which are just not perhaps the best bred/ugly duckling GSDs.

No pictures still up, and yes they are both cavvies, registered, but I was wondering about the reputability of the breeder; I also know a cavvie that is springer size and a goldie that looks like a lab. Doesn't matter anyway, I love them regardless :)

Indeed, I have 3 pedigree cavs and to me they all look quite different. Although that might be more because I'm around them to notice their differences. However they are all slightly different in shape etc. :)

Yes CC that's what I thought, most likely, but sometimes you do wonder as they are so different and as I said, I think the boy is a working dog at heart.

They both look like Cavaliers to me. (I Have had Cavaliers for 20+ years)The Blenheim is shorter in muzzle and deeper in stop but still more Cavalier than Charlie. The muzzle should be approx 1 inch from stop to tip of nose, the ears should be set higher on the head than a Charlie giving the impression of a "flat" head between the ears. The Charlie has lower set ears so the head looks domed. There is no height set in the breed standard but rather an ideal weight range.
There is such a wide range of type in "pet" Cavaliers, however the most important thing is that they are a friendly, happy & active breed. A delight to be around.

Thanks :) am taking photos down now. One more little question though :D what about the extreme energy on-the-go-ness of the boy? Most probably down to individual personality, but could that come from springer in his line somewhere, or is it definitely just a cavvie thing? He is different from every cavvie we've met!

I know a few that love to be on the go and busy!

I think Cayla has a very high energy B&T Cavalier as well.
Don't forget the S part of the name stands for spaniel!

Indeed I do and most would be given the opportunity, I must film her flushing the partridges (sp):D she would have made a fab little gun dog, she is super high energy, infact she is my second highest energy dog, she has fab scent on her and she does hourly bike treks out with OH (no lead) literally running along side the bike, I love this, I aint a little dog fan but (let them be a dog) I say:p they are very placid little dogs making them a good choice for older people, who then feed them till they resemble a stool and don't walk them far, if you open my van doors ours starts to scream (cos she knows she is going hunting):D OH sets her onto naything and everything:o and has her going down holes:eek::o

I never saw you pictures but panner (mine) has a longer snout and is longer legged and very slender;)

Can't see photos but as you bought them from a puppy farmer the only selection would have been how many cute puppies thay could produce. Breed type and health would not matter as long as the pups looked something like the breed.

I know a CKCS that goes beating (& used to show).

I have had cavvies for years I have a friend that breeds them from some of my old stock now and they come in all shapes and sizes.
My original puppy came from a line that had a huge dog in it He was at least the size of a small springer and had boundless energy he was bred by a show breeder but was too big to show and fully kc registered She only bred cavaliers at that time so no chance of a cross. He was a wonderful example of his breed with good bone, a superb head which has been passed down through the generations and a lively active temperament
His descendents are show winners and have qualified for crufts regularly
So although I havent seen the picture I am sure you have a lovely and quite normal cavalier

Cayla she is the spitting image of my boy, well more of him puppy-ish as he's a bit lankier and stragglier haha. I guess they both are full cavvies then! And my boy would love the hour on the bike, unfortunately he has awful recall and can't be trusted, only sometimes in a secure field.

Cayla. Your Black and Tan looks just like my old Juno. I competed in working trials and agility with her. Juno was from v good show breeding going back to rheinvelt and salador lines. She passed away last year at 13 3/4. Juno always gave the flatcoats a run for their money

Wow, Sheila Smith, that IS a blast from the past :):):)

ETA - just to clarify, Sheila Smith is NOT the poster, but is the holder of one of the prefixes :)

Yup Sheila Smith bred Salador Cavaliers, some very beautiful dogs. My Juno went back to Celtic Prince who was a stunning dog.

I can't see the photo for some reason :( My mum had at least one Celtic Prince litter, and I think one by Crismark, but that must have been when I still lived at home so a long time ago now :D
