Just forked out nearly £100 on a beautiful cave bed, but the spoilt buggers have decided not to go near it!!!! Whippet and fox terrier that usually snuggle up together anywhere.....!

Have tried throwing treats in there, and taken away any other sleeping options, but both determinedly ignoring it and lying on the cold laminate......

Any advice?

I would suspect that it smells new/wrong to them. Either simply wait for it to start to smell right, or perhaps put it on your spot in the sofa, and sit on it/lean your back at it for an evening or more, to make it smell like you/home faster.

As a last resort, dress up with layers until you feel like a Michelin man, turn the heating off, open the windows, wait for them to start to look for somewhere warmer to sleep, then show them the cave bed again.

Mine ignored theirs at first, then one would lie on it not in it for about 2 years. Now both get in it happily. I took out the hoop that supports the roof and actually found they get in more like that. They're both in in both pictures just one more than the other.

The whippet is also finally in......ish. He sits gingerly a the edge though - have made another hoop out of blue polypipe to support the back of the roof, so looks more like an igloo now, but has made him less wary of it!!!

Would certainlly recommend a cave bed as very warm and cosy, but whether my two use it to its full potential is questionable. Hopefully as it gets colder, they will snuggle deeper into it.
