i have never really thought about it, but what do you lot think about the conformation of 'Jack'??

this is him from last summer will try to get some more recent pics but these will have to do for now!! not the best pic ever

Love his face, a proper gorgous boy! Looks like he has a bit of a podgy belly - good summer grass! Also looks a bit long in the toe infront. It is a little hard to tell much though as he isn't stood up square.
Lovely looking chap - I am a sucker for a nice irish type!

TBH the photo doesn't assist in critiquing his conformation. You really need a full side on view, with him stood up properly showing all his limbs, taken with him standing on level ground. A front and rear shot are also helpful.

Main things I notice from the photo here are his front feet. Is it the photo? or are his toes long and his heels short?

he has a lovely looking face, hard to reaqlly comment as he isnt stood square but he looks to have good shoulders and a nice bum. He does look extremly long in the toe infront, and he does have a good belly on him!!
Overall a nice chap tho

i'll try and take some pics tonight, i think it must just be the photo cos i don't remember his feet being really long. and for his belly he was a little podgey he didn't get ridden enough last summer so hope he will look better this year. although not yet

What a lovely horse.

Gorgeous head and face. Nice neck and shoulder but he looks over at the knee but could be the photo also down at the heels but again I think that is the photo. I think he looks a bit long in the body for a cob but again the photo. Nice bum, what I can see and nice hinds. Bit of a grass belly.

Main of the problems I think are the piccy rather than him, if you see what I mean.

Overall I really like him, he has a lovely look to him. He has a pleasant expression and is a really good looking horse.

thankyou very much i am very lucky to have him and he is very special to me. he is coming up to 7 this year. he is such a well behaved and loving horse, that has a home for life. the farrier has never flagged anything up about him having flat heels. i was going to get some piccies tonight but it was raining and foggy. maybe i'll try tomo!! :D

some more piccs , hope these ones are better:

He looks a sweetie! Lovely kind face on him. The later pictures show his feet look fine, but you are quite right, he could do with losing a few kg - especially round that tum!

What height is he?

i know his tum looks huge, i'm hoping its more bloted than fat because he hasn't been on this field very long, and i have managed to stop hay. he is about 15.2 - 15.3hh

Won't comment on conformation cos I haven't a clue! But if he were mine I'd hog and clip out his legs. I'm a hairy horse fanatic and wouldn't touch a hair on my lads legs, mane or tail because he's proper hairy cob boy but because your boy isn't hugely hairy and his mane is 'half way house' I'd hog him because I think he'd look so much smarter plus it would show of his gorgeous face to it's fullest! Not being rude I just think he'd look stunning. :D

his main didn't gert brushed and normally looks better. but i'm not going to hog as i think it would look horrible on him. if he was black or dark bay it would look nice but not on him, sorry!!

oh i am gonna clip his legs though

Lol! Don't have to be sorry he's your horse you do what you like with him.;)

Although...colours can look fabulous hogged!! As I said I'm a hairy fan and he does have such a lovely face it would be nice to see him smartened up. You'll have to get some photo's of him plaited and clipped to share. :D

Nice horse, lovely sort. (Is it me, or does he only have 1 shoe on? - I haven't got the best eyesight, so appologies if I am wrong!) I don't see anything to crit, he is a nice irish type of horse, I would have one at the drop of a hat if I could.

you're right he lost in the field last sat/sun luckily i found it so farrier can just pop it b ack on, although am having trouble getting hold of him!!

I think he looks like a nice sort. If you wanted to make him look better then I would get him to lose a few pounds and (I'm going to be diffrent here) pull his mane and clip his legs out. As personaly I dont think he is heavy enough to pull off a hog and my instructors youngster is a similar biuld and he looks great clipped out and pulled but thats just my opinion. But I am liking the clean patch where his rug has been :)

No you are right a pulled mane would be lovely it does take a strong neck to take a hog..but I'm a lazy mare and if I can clip it off easily I will!! Lol!!

Wouldn't allow anyone near my lad with clippers other than myself of course but prefer to see a cob hogged or with neat short mane or a long flowing one, don't like the inbetween stage personally.

ok thanks, we are working on the belly, i think it's more gassy than fat. it's just because he's only recently been put on the grass. his mane does need doing though i must admit. also he looks clean because i gave him a bath tuesday as was sunny and had day off school.
