Hi,

I would really appreciate it if you would take a minute to CC (weight / condition / conformation) my 2 very different boys please.

I am not sure if these photos are any good - they were far too interested in me and what I was doing to stand nicely!
Sorry they are a bit scruffy!

First is my new boy Jimmy who is a standardbred. He came last week.

And this is Ozzy my Welsh Sec D who I have had for 3.5 years.

Neither of them have had a lot of work recently due to the weather and they have both just had their backs done. I plan to get them fitter over the next few weeks and do some local jumping with them in the summer.

Thanks in advance!

very difficult to comment off photo's really need to see in the flesh, but your standard bred is nicely put together with a good sloping shoulder, although he obviously needs to build up a top line. The Welshie is a little long in the back (although this could be the photo's giving a false impression) and again he looks like he needs to have work on this top line.

They both look to be in good condition and both have really lovely faces!! and yes, you are right, they are both wondering what the bloody hell you are up to!!!:D

Hi,

Thank you for your response. I know they both need top line build up, especially the SB, but it is very nice to hear that you think he is nicely put together as he was very much an impulse buy.

Funnily enough, when I saw these photos, I though my welshie's legs looked really short, so that would tie in with the long back! He is only 14.1, but rides a bit bigger, possibly because of his longer back?

Does anyone have any comments on their weight? I personally think my welshie is a few lbs on the heavy side, although he only gets little feeds, I am going to cut them down even further now it is coming into spring (hopefully). It is difficult for me to judge the SB as he is just so fine in comparison to my Welshie!

Thanks!
