i am rubbish with all the technical words but would agree that his neck looks like it could do with a little more muscle/topline, it looks a little out of proportion to the rest of his body, but it may be the angle.
He looks lovely though!

that will come with correct work. Lunging, hill work...since he's only 5 be patient, better to lay down the correct work to gain topline, don't go pumping him full of feed to produce a fatline!
Its a balancing act, unless I starved him (which I won't do) he's never going to be a slim line cob...but I monitor his grazing, his feed, his work regime and his hay intake.
I try and get out and hack 3 to 4 times a week. The school is not his fav place but as the weather has been bad here he is having to.he is very lazy and can be hard work.
He is lacking in topline but he is only a baby, it will come with time. Hacking up hills is good for topline and fitness building. However since the weather is so poo and you are workinghim in the school, trotting poles are fantastic for young horses. It gets them forewards into a good rhythm over the poles whilst stretching over their back which is a good topline builder. It gives them a bit of variety too and you can do this on the lunge or ridden. Raising the poles too once he has gotten the hang of it is also good.
He looks like a real sweetie
You're very lucky curlywurly- I looked into getting one of these as my next horse but atm there's only 2 breeders in the UK and no older horses.
He's a lovely looking boy anyway
