Can anyone recommend a calmer that is good to take the edge of a horse when competing (well in this case at a show).

Taking a horse (not my horse by the way) to his first show this weekend (Arena UK) and he may get a little silly and wound up, so what what you suggest to help him relax, that could be given to him at breakfast time that will kick in through the day? Horse is a TB and will be in over night stabling.

Not got any experiance with calmers Im afraid

Oxyshot is just very concentrated salty water, i believe it works by dehydrating your horse - if that's ok by you just don't give it a drink all day.

I know a few people who think Nupafeed works well or Equine America So Kalm paste but I don't think that's as effective.

Good luck!

its the ex racer club championship show, going Friday night and staying till Sunday afternoon/evening so you either see me proping the bar up or wrestling around with a nutty TB

actually the one that is going wasnt supposed to be going...but due to various reasons he's now going, but were just testing the water with him really.

Glad there is something else on though as well as I'll be able to watch a bit of jumping too...should be good!

We used nice and easy calmer in a syringe and it worked brilliantly on our nervous horse, never seen him so chilled but responsive. can be used for competitions.

Hmm, yeah I think they have half decent facilities, they do enough comps there too!! However, Arena UK is probably THE coldest place on earth....so lots of layers needed!!!!

I am a bit of a natural supplement hippy type. I have been using brewers yeast in my boy's feed which I think has worked (I have upped his workload recently so that might also contribute).

I am going to a show tomorrow so I wanted a bit of extra 'calm' I am trying chamomile tea! Six tea bags to one litre of water split across his tea and breakfast tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes. Was recommended by a friend who swears by it.
