Hi
I was reading the new BE Rule Book last night, as you do on a Saturday night! I noticed that they have changed the qualifications for CCI*! It now reads as though you only have to do one of the folloiwng:
- 4 Novice ODE clear XC with a total of 16 SJ Penalties.
- 2 Novice ODE clear XC with no more than 16 SJ and a Novice 2DE clear XC or a CIC* clear XC.
Am I reading this right? Seems much easier than last year when you had to do a Novice 2DE or an Int ODE clear XC. Can someone please clarify before I get too excited that I may actually be qualified to do a CCI*!
Thanks

Yes the change was confirmed in October to bring 1* qualification in line with Europe. Only in UK did you have to go to Intermediate level in order to qualify for what is a novice event.

I read the SJ as less than 16 faults in each novice not less than 16 faults total over 4 novice events.

always thought that was funny in the uk! lol
this is what you have to do in ireland :

* TO COMPETE AT A 1 STAR CCI, IN IRELAND

3 X CNC* (clear XC)
One to have been within 6 months of the event

NOTE: At 1 Star Level an event may impose further qualification requirements

* TO COMPETE AT A 1 STAR CCI, ABROAD

MINIMUM OF 6 POINTS

3 X CNC* (clear XC) One to have been within 6 months of the event

NOTE: At 1 Star Level an event may impose further qualification requirements

if i read this right i might not even, thou me and song have done one, be able to qualify!!

You have read it wrong. Each novice must be less than 16 pens SJ. Normal rules for eventing are 24 to go to xc so they are making it stricter in that respect.

You would be qualified anyway having done both an intermediate and a 2DE had not already qualifed in 2006!

Will be interesting to see how popular they are as there must be lots of people in the same position as myself who are too windy to get intermediate this year yet would like a crack at 1*. I would go to Aldon myself if doing one! But not spending the money unless my dressage and SJ are [****] hot.
