I'm confused- http://www.britisheventing.com/asp-net/Events/Results.aspx?HorseId=65521&section=000100010002

How was this horse qualified to do Weston?!!

It is not and I know one at Aldon that wasn't qualified as well. I know the owner though the 4 clear novice applied but the fact was it wasn't qualified, this wasn't picked up by the event or BE!

it would seem it happens all the time with eventing!!!!
i did a *** even though i hadn't run at advanced, but in my case i think it was the fact that so many events were cancelled, so i had entered many advanced events but all 3 had been rained off.
maybe this was the same?

I wandered whether BE had eased the qualification, I know they can for one days and 2 days but I didnt think the FEI bended the rules at all?

Just seems a tad unfair to me

lol
well it goes to show how much i actually know about the rules hehe

it was barbury, which ran over 4 days, so is near enough a CCI.

the FEI are insanely strict but it would seem that at the lower levels it dont make a difference, i know of 2 that weren't qualified at aldon!!!!

it always seems to go well for others don't it. if it was me i would be sent home.

Agreed the horse that I knew that ran at Aldon was riden by a Pro if I did I would be caught and probably disciplined.

Hmmmm does make you wander though. Entries secretaries should surely check the big box on the back which says 'qualifications'

bloooooooming massive, i completed but had a little whoopsy.
it wasn't even a fall at a fence he jumped up the sunken road, over jumped step up, breasted the skinny, then decided to turn and jump back off of the step, i was still forward and he then forgot to stick out his landing leg lol
i went splat =o(

but hey i completed my first ever 3*

yay
x

I would of thought so but I suppose can be easy to miss particularly if you are going through a lot. I would also of though as under FEI rule BE would check a bit more carefully.

Well done I would love to do one this year if things go to plan. (unlikely!

Chatsworth's a good first 3* from what I've heard....

well i worked my nuts off to get my 6 year old qualified for aldon *. he was a dude, but i know for a fact that if he was so much as a time fault out of qualifying i would never have got there =o(

but hey ho, we can bitch all we like, they still ran lol

i am hopefully (fingers, legs and oh bum i've fallen over crossed) will do blenheim this season =o)

and maybe flyte will do a 2* at the other end of the season?

who knows? they're horses and we all know how unpredictable life around them can be x

Maybe too early we only had 4 runs this year so a bit back from what I hoped. Will see if I get to Portugal and how that goes and take it from their. Might even go out to Ede again for the 3* out there as that was nice last year.

FEI rules state at 1* that the horses and riders must be certified as competant by their national federation. There is no qualifying criteria.

So theoretically BE get round the need to certify everyone by giving blanket certification to anyone who fulfills their qualifying criteria, but reserves the right to say yes to other people who happen to ask then?

It would appear so. Of course, Bruce isnt English so his NF were happy with his results

I know - it was just an example! BE is quicker to type than New Zealand Eventing National Body people (as I don't know what they are called!)

As previously said, Bruce is a Kiwi so I imagine his NF had an input and I think the horses result shows that it was more than ready to go 1*. If it had crashed and burned then fair enough, but under FEI rules it wasnt competing illegally.

that is why bruce can do as he likes you will also notice if you check carefully that there are several other foreign riders based here who do as they like too. and for the record someone who appears to have a fan club on this site has been disqualified once this season for running a horse when it wasnt entitiled to and further more was placed last year in a CCI on a horse not qualified to be there and no doubt was given a dispensation on the basis thet the horse might be a team prospect....and on that basis i might be pippa funnell if you get my drift!
