CCTV Camera for Ifor Williams

I'm confused! Jen_cots I don't understand your problem?
ROG is stating the law, thats all. If you personally don't wish to drive within the law that's up to you its nothing to do with ROG's statement so I don't get why you are having a go at him/her???!

Ah but he is not stating the law - he is stating his interpretation of the law

He didn't get much joy on trucknet, but likes it here on H&H as all the little girls believe every word he posts.....

I wondered if you had an agenda and that proves it !!

I have been posting on TN for many years and over the past 4 years none of my information has been incorrect but there were a few interesting discussions before that :)

I do not interperet the law - that is not my remit but seems it might be yours if you are stating other than what the law actually says

ROG I find you the most frustrating poster ever and what gets my goat is that you are presenting this as black and white, and it simply is not

You know full well from your trucknet posts that when you write to VOSA you don't get a straight answer, and you don't get a straight answer from DFT either

What we do know is that there is no such thing as a "dispensation" in law for buses and council vehicles - as in your don't get a permit or licence, its just accepted that they have them.

Let me quote from DfT (via Trucknet)
"The Department cannot give an authoritative interpretation of the law; that is a matter for the courts. Enforcement of road traffic law is an operational matter for individual Chief Police Officers and their officers can issue verbal warnings, fixed penalty notices or report the motorist for formal prosecution"

So the Department for Transport cannot give an authoritative interpretation of the law - but apparently ROG you can

So ladies and gents of the forum - if you have a sensibly placed CCTV that is also a reversing camera and you don't spend all your time mooning at your horse, but instead use it as a mirror - only a bureaucratic nazi is likely to book you for it

The decision is yours, and don't believe every word ROG posts

I will let the other members of this site decide whether I am posting facts instead of putting forward what another member would like the reality to be

As my facts can be seen in various .gov sites then I have a feeling who they will believe especially as I have a proven track record on this site

ROG if you posted a link to a government site that definitively said this was illegal, then I would eat humble pie and apologize publicly for doubting you

I don't think you are moving with the times, camera systems are increasing being used to eliminate drivers blind sports when driving. Times are changing and anything to make the roads safer can only be a good thing. Being able to check your live cargo is a good welfare improvement, and helps you pose less of a hazard to other road users.

Having had a horse killed through a trailer floor failure on a relatively new and well known brand of trailer, I will never travel without CCTV on my horses. Other road users shouldn't have to flag you down to let you know there is a horrific problem.

You seem to have made your own interpretation of the law and insist on preaching this on all CCTV threads, which to my mind it at odds with horse welfare.

Perhaps you could consider running a campaign to help cctv on livestock become definitely legal. However I honestly don't think you think you want this?

Guys ROG is very helpful on here for towing posts etc. if you don't want his info just don't read it. He stated the legislation that's all up to you what you do with that info- I have a trailer cam too but only
Used with passangers or in emergency- on way to vets. Don't like the agressive posts : (

I do not find him helpful at but that is me. I find him tedious jumping on his band wagon any time someone mentions anything about CCTV

You have missed the point widget, OP asked about WIRING not the legality of cctv
ROG cannot miss a post about drowning us in his so called rules of CCTV.

I use mine while driving I do not care it faces straight back so me and passenger can see. Its on while driving always will be its been proven more often tan 5 times that people do and will continue to do so.

Now if the post was

is it illegal to have cctv on or whats the legality of cctv fair enough but it never is , I think if you look back through any of the CCTV post almost none actually ask if its legal or not but you can bet your bottom dollar he has posted its illegal.

My tv's are facing me in the drivers seat both of them in my car. Its not illegal to have them facing you as there is no other place they can be as they are in dash, but fuzz don't complain so no one else has the right too. If anything they ask to see them working

My car comes with movable wireless cameras you put them where you want them I really don't believe the car manufactures believe they are illegal but are fitting them anyway.

Sorry OP as this is so not what you want but without seeing some case law on how this pans out its impossible to say what's what .
I could not find any when I searched the fact you see them on buses has always interested me the act quoted makes no mentain of dispensations for buses or anything esle so one must assume they do not exist.
