CCTV in horsebox

we have a tv in the front of the lorry that is connected to a camera on the horse bit! lol sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt! but it is useful to see whos mucking around or not standing...

We bought a lorry reversing camera and fitted the monitor on the dashboard. Found that b&w gives you a better visual when it gets dark!

we have one that flips inbetween reversing view and the horse bit - i LOVE the reversing bit (i am learning to drive the lorry!) and the horse view bit is handy as you dont ahve to go rushing back every time you hear a suspicious bump to see who is trying to kill who!

I would not recommend a wireless system - we have found them to be rubbish!

We use, on our horseboxes, a flat screen LCD cab mounted monitor with colour, sound and an infra red facility, (this gives you night time vision), and ours come with remote control.

Also the flat screen monitor, which is either a 3.5 inch or 7 inch monitor ,does not have to be removed for annual MOT as it is approved by the ministry. Be careful because some of the bulky monitors have to be removed for MOT.

Then you add your cameras for horse area and if needed reversing.

The cameras should be in a heavy duty metal housing to prevent fogging and freezing - and the odd silly horse !!

Transport Support are a very good company to provide the system, tel number 01204 368 111, ask for kevin ratcliffe , prices start from approx £ 190+ VAT for the single camera system . You would probably need an auto electrician correctly trunk wire it for you. ( the system comes with all cabling etc). If you want any other info just PM me.

I got mine from e bay and it has been brilliant. Great for keeping an eye on them if you have no cut through. Not too expensive and we got an auto electrician to install it - you can plug it in to the cigarette lighter hole but it was easier to wire it in.

I have just bought a completely wire free baby monitor that i am going to try and use as cctv in my trailer if it works eill just be a case of sticking the camera up turning the monitor on and hey presto! All sounds a bit to simple though will keep you posted as if it works it only cost £40!!
