Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for CCTV (cheap version, one or two cameras) which runs from a SIM card? We have power but no Wifi although at a push I could set up an WEEFee as a sourse for WiFi.

I got a Reolink one, it's solar powered and runs off 4G, although I've never actually got it set up. I got a card from Vodafone which is £3/month to cover it although haven't activated it yet. Must put onto list of things to do asap.

Jennbags, could you tell me what model Reolink you have and which sim plan you have please. Seriously thinking of doing something like this myself

Have a look at the Alfred app. I had a great time in the spring watching my friends mare when she was due to foal. You just need an old phone, a sim card with some data on and the app.

You can use a normal phone sim but the v sim is very good value.
I have no Vodafone signal where my broodmare is so I just put normal payg EE sims from the checkout at tesco in and they work fine. I'll swap back to the v sim when I move the cameras.

Ah ha! That was the route I was going then D said it wouldn't work... I shall enjoy going "Ner ner na ner naaaarh!" to him.

I didnt think it would work but had one kicking about from when my mum was in hospital and needed a smartphone to borrow. I saw in one of the online q&as that they said it would work and indeed it does ? so I went and got another!

Wish I'd asked the question sooner rather than after an evening of faffing with the Vodafone site (if you're reading this Vodafone - it's not user friendly!) Still, now I have one, possibly two, of the right thing and just need to figure out how to get onto the £2-4 per month payment thingy... I'll save that for tomorrow's fun :eek:

:D
