October this year at Windsor Endurance Ride

Last weekend after I clipped my niece's name in his bum. We sadly lost my niece in January after she was born very early. My sister is doing a memory album of Daisy's name photographed by family and friends so I decided to take my little niece for a ride on Izzy the only way I can at the same time.

I am usually a lurker rather than poster, but thought it would be nice to have a thread about our horses that are sound and well behaved :D. There's always lots of posts about broken and naughty neddies, and I was just thinking about how much I appreciate having my horses in my life :)

I am home alone this weekend, and normally wouldn't ride out if there's no one here, just in case something should go wrong. But I got brave this morning and rode my girly out in ferocious winds. And she was such a big star! Didn't put a foot out of place even in this wind :D. I was so pleased I was brave and rode out - it was a real sense of achievement for me, even though it was nothing special really :D

Then my baby arab has been giving me big cuddles tonight - I've had her just over 6 months and I cannot imagine my stables being with out her.

So what have your horses done recently to make you realise how much you love them?

Jacket tatties are in the oven for everyone feeling the chill tonight :D
My lamb, who is a saint among horses anyway, was particularly kind yesterday to a very nervous lady who came to have a go at side saddle. She had almost given up on riding as she was so nervous riding astride after a bad fall but after 15 minutes on my boy and his side saddle she was beginning to get her nerve back and after half an hour was asking where she could get a side saddle for her horse. Considering that she already had a "for sale" advert posted on the notice board I was particularly proud of my lovely boy (un-papered 16.2hh Irish Draught)

Mine has smooth even paces, jumps lovely, takes good care if me and always tries hard. He is kind, tolerant, friendly, brave, nosey and squeeks when he's feeling enthusiastic :D . What more could a person want? :) I love my angel.

So pleased with my two yearlings. Last night they stayed in stables for first time overnight. I was not sure how they would react, but I need not have worried. They do come in each afternoon at present for a feed, groom, handling etc.

Yesterday the grass was all covered with ice, and snow was settling and as I live on top of the moors, the wind was strong and icy, snow coming in horizontal so I decided to keep them in overnight, and they were so calm and good.

Much better behaved than our previous ponies (who were very loved family pets), who used to shout to us that they were ready to go out in the morning, one used to manage to switch the lights on and off to signal to us - she had to really stretch her neck and face to reach to switch outside her box!

Tonight, it is different again, snow all gone and grass green so back to out at night!

Well I am very happy as I bought a miniature foal about 6 weeks ago and she has settled so well its like she has always been here. she is sharing her field with my other two miniatures and they all get on so well its a joy to watch them. She is 6 months old and I have a yearling, they chase each other around bucking and rearing it is so funny to see them play and they make me laugh everyday. Everyone should have a mini.:D

My darling girl was brilliant today. We hacked out with friends for an hour then she waited patiently in her box while I sorted 3 horses before we went schooling. Was untacked and tacked again without objection and then executed the most delightful walk-canter transitions as if she does it every day (trust me, she doesn't - at least not with me on board!)

She is the best decision I have ever made and truly the most wonderful little horse. I'm almost 30 but feel like a giddy child around her - she is my absolute world. I hope I never let her down.

hmmmm only 1 of mine was lovely today, the other was a very naughty girl and had to be told off:o

fat and happy in the field

The lovely horse I would like to celebrate is a horse I had on loan for about 8 years, and who I heard today died last month due to colic. This lovely boy was a Welsh x and was absolutely fabulous. The only thing he would not do was go any where near coloured poles.

The best hack I ever had was on this horse, when I tacked him up at 3'o'clock in the morning - something I will never forget. I have so many fabulous memories - RIP Charlie

I love the idea of celebrating!
So many good honest fun and kind horses out there and sometimes it's easy to forget if we only talk about them when things are going downhill.
I adore my gentleman, he's honest and a saint for putting up with my hectic life, he always puts a smile on my face and is absolutely the reason i earn money, so i can make his life as good as i can:D

My boy gave me yet another fantastic morning out hunting on Tuesday and got us out of a very sticky situation when we landed in a ditch after a fence and almost fell but he was very clever and jumped back out of the ditch to safety. Also, we came 3rd and 5th in our first TREC competition last weekend! :D

My horse Max is the bestest horse ever! I had a very bad time with my last horse and a near fatal accident had my confidence at rock bottom. In January I made the decision to sell her, that day my Yard Manager found Max on Facebook as available to loan. I was a little wary at first but it was the best day of my horseriding life :) He has given me the best year as he is safe but fun I have realised so many of my dreams with him and in May my biggest dream became true and my perfect horse became mine :)

This week has really demonstrated how much he has done for me and just how fab he is when the wind really picked up during a schooling session and my boy remained calm and tuned into me with no spinning at the bushes blowing around whereas I would have never ridden my mare in a slight breeze as she would spin at the bushes.

Had a great lesson on Max today his flatwork has come a long way in our 11 months together.

Sorry to gush but I think my boy needs celebrating :)
