cellulitis help

My 17.1 IDxTB has started to suffers from cellulitis in all fours and under her stomach when being kept in, at the yard im at now during the winter months they have to be kept in. Does anyone have any idea of anything I can do to help her? Ive tried bandaging her legs when shes in this reduced the swelling slightly but not to what I had hoped.
Does anyone have any idea on what else I could do?

Hi, has the vet said it is cellulitis? Sounds odd to me that its in all 4 legs and tummy just from being kept in, when normally it is secondary to a wound (often a minor one) or a tissue infection. Could it be overnight swelling, or 'stocking up', caused by his confinement and therefore lack of movement? Stable bandages would help the stocking up but they have to be put on properly or will result in other problems. Cold hosing would help, for at least 10-15 mins, and the more often your horse could be walked out / exercised the better. Some Danilon / bute would also help with swelling in the short term. If you really think its Cellulitis / lymphangitis - speak to your vet as I'd be very concerned and antibiotics could be needed - and I wouldn't bandage. Hope you get it sorted.
 
Yep vet has told me its cellulitis :( and cold hosing is a regular thing for us, whenever she gets any kind of cut she does swell badly aswell but she does swell after being kept in but swelling will go down after about 10 minutes of being in the field.
 
I'd move yards ASAP.
I lost my IDx in July when she got septicaemia from cellulitis which she got through a graze to her hind leg.
It was very sudden and absolutely devastating, as she had appeared to be responding to treatment. Please don't let your horse suffer the same fate.
 
Asa person who has all over lymphodema I regulary get attacks of cellulitis I have to have anitibiotics otherwise it would kill me in hours, your horse will only get well if its give then correct anitibiotics, if your vet said cellulitis I am shocked you were not given Anti Bs as its the only way to sort the condition out!lymphangitis is what the horse has and as its lymphatic system is not clearing it will have a protein rich fluid called Lyph collecting or pooling and this is what is becoming infected via any cut scratch walking will help a lot but must not be done during an attack of cellulitis as it spreads the infection to the major organs like the liver ad heart. stable bandages low stretch will also be very helpful to your horse.

Agree with the other posters. Cellulitis is serious. Would expect antibiotics. Are you sure its not vasculitis? My pony had this recently as a reaction to a virus and her flu booster, and she developed swelling in one hind limb. The vet treated it with antibiotics and danilon but it was turnout which really got rid of the swelling. Good luck.
 
You need to speak to your vet asap about managing this, it is a potentially life threatening condition, telling you the horse has it but not helping you manage it is very concerning .
Your horse may be very sore, have you been given antibiotics and pain killers
