Central Scotland Horse Trials - weather/ground etc?

I was at Perth races on Wednesday and I've never seen horses coming back so dirty after a race - even early season P2Ps! There was standing water on the grass in the saddling enclosure, it was pretty grim...

However, in Glasgow at least now it's glorious sunshine, it hasn't rained much since Wednesday and from the sounds of things the event course has faired better than the racecourse so fingers crossed for you all for a lovely run on safe ground - good luck!

It was windy enough there yesterday, and as the coursebuilder said the parkland does take much more rain than the racecourse.
Good luck guys

Absolutely chucking it down at the moment and only live about 10 miles from Scone. I'd certainly think carefully about travelling any distance to compete tomorrow far less Sunday when the ground will maybe have been ridden on. With the cost of fuel it's bad enough to loose an entry if Scone by some miracle runs without loosing even more money if the event is cancelled at the last minute.
Of course we are all hoping for the best, we won't go even if it stops raining in the next five minutes or the event goes ahead, have too much respect for our horses. Went racing at Perth yesterday and it was GHASTLY.

Walked the course this afternoon............looks up to height to me but what do I know! Nice laid out course with some shiny new jumps :)

Corse walk pics can be seen here

Would like to back up those saying the parkland ground is very different to the racecourse end- polo ground (in centre of racecourse) is ALWAYS wetter than the event. Honest!

Thank you for putting up your super pics. Was just looking at them and looking forward to riding there Sunday when got the message it was cancelled :(

A friend of mine has had two wasted trips from Cambridge to Scotland in the last couple of weeks - does anyone have any first hand experience of what the ground is like for Friday?

Just back from walking the ground. Has dried well over the past couple of days with a drying wind and bright sunshine at the moment. Barring torrential rain the event will run on Friday for Novice OI CIC 1* CIC 2*

See the Central Scotland website virtual course walk for all courses taken last Friday. Only 2* and OI jumps 5 and 6 are not in the rescheduled course. You even get the courses that never ran.

Is there another class on the Sunday or is it a Riding/Pony club sort of event? I have a friend who is doing a 3' class on the sunday and was going to go and watch. Does anyone have any info? :)

Fife Hunt PC are holding their ODE over the BE course plus a BE80 on Sunday. There are PC and adult classes - think the schedule is still up on their website

Once you catch up with one of us, you will get to know the others.

I have blue and grey stars as my XC colours and my friend ArticFox is a LOT more visible in her orange and navy ensemble. We both ride greys.

If you spot either of us, come and say hello!

AF will be at Floors. My next event is a RC team thing then probably Hutton
