Cereal free foods

Might be tricky, but here goes.

Can someone recommend me a cereal free food for an older dog? Tricky bit- it can't be too expensive.

My oldest dog is really itchy- he's been to the vet four times this month and is still itching. No fleas, no worms. He's a CKCS and is almost 12.

It's cost me £200 in vet visits so there's not a lot left this month to try an expensive feed.
(Bloomin car also cost me quite a bit this month!)

Skinners salmon and rice is not cereal free as it contains barley we tried it (usually on fishmongers) and it gave ours the runs so bad we ended up with a £150 vet bill
 
Thank you! I'm going to try the potato and salmon tins first. They're the easiest to get hold of. :D (And I can just pick up one or two in case he won't eat it.)

It's not always me who feeds him, so I'd like to try something simple first.

He does get raw carrots and really enjoys them. (To the point where the little bugger dug half my carrot bed up and ate them!)
 
Fish4dogs have recently radically changed their recipe so the protein level is tons lower. They have also added in pea flour as one of the highest ingredients. It isn't cheap and now it's not good quality either. :(

I assume the ocean white fish is fresh, else it would state 'meal' as it does with the fishmeal. Which means you need to remove the moisture.

100 -70 [the moisture level] = 30%. Then 30% of 27% = 8.1%

So once dehydrated and in the dogs bowl it only adds 8% meat, add that to the 8.7% fishmeal means the overall meat content is 16.7% meat,

For £47 a bag, that's outrageous.

Compare that to pets at homes fishmongers

I picked up a tin of the salmon and potato. I didn't really expect him to eat it (he's quite fussy!) but he seemed to really enjoy it. Now I know he'll eat it, I'll buy some more.
 
Sorry not barley (that must have been in my mind as cooking pearl barley in a Lancashire hotspot lol) I think it's oats?! Anyway it's defo not cereal free!
 
Ct, was surprised fish4dogs had done that, but when you look on their website you can see that they have introduced a new range called superior. So finest isn't so good (and now £47 rather than £49 although I have never paid that! Shop online and you can get it for nearer £36 ;) ) the superior range looks better and will be what I feed (on their site for £53 but I will shop around)
