I'm located in West London and am trying to find a supplier of basic Chaff. I have a 12.2 suffering (we think) from EMS and the vet has recommended a sugar free diet. Does anyone out there know a supplier?
Hi, looking out info for some people regards shivers, also cover ems, would you be interested? Comes with suitable feeds.
We have a horse with epms.
I have so many papers have not laid my hands on them yet.
I had a pony with sugar intolerance. I found D&H Fibergy chaff was the only one he could tolerate without going loopy. I pay £9 a bag or thereabouts.
I have just moved my two onto the simple systems feeds. They do a variety of chaffs depending on energy levels needed. If you email them with your horses details they will provide a diet for you. There is no minimum order either and delivery is free!!!
i used to use simple systems luciestalks, (it's good, but v expensive for chaff!)
now use greengold, pure unmollassed lucerne chop. Would recommend it, although I find that the quality can vary a bit, sometimes it's a wee bit dusty, but I always water the feeds so that solves that.
simple systems purabeet & speedi beet are both unmollased, but they both still contain about 5% naturally ocurring sugar.
We found a local (to us) feed company which made plain chaff for us. Horses wouldn't touch it! *rolls eyes* Fussy b*ggers. Toffee does like Fibergy though, but I have no idea of the sugar content.
I use Aldwicks Pure Grass which may not be available where you are but Northern Crop Driers do a similar product called Graze On. Both are, quite literally, just dried chopped grass chaff....thats it, nothing else added.
