Any suggestions on changable gullet saddles I've been looking at the bates elevation which is quite nice. Want something forward cut?

I have a Tekna, the S line ones. Recently had a master saddler out to check it over as well as the fit on my mare.
He was amazed by the quality and said it was a great saddle. They don't suit High withered horses though. Gullet is simple enough to change and I've had mine 4 years and still weathers well. It is synthetic though.

I know Kent and Masters own Thorowgood saddles and the K&M is leather and the TG is synthetic. I've a few friends with those and they are very happy with them.

Personally I am not a fan of wintec, made me arch my back and ride on my crotch, but I do know some people love them. Changing the gullet (even if for a once off) is a pain in those though.

urgh I can't ride in Wintecs for any length of time either. I used to ride out in one, but I'd always be walking home :o Too much pain!

I love my Wow saddles, not just adjustable at the headplate but everywhere else too :)

Just bought a K&M S series for my horse who has an xw bar in. I'm very happy with it so far and also like the adjustability in the girth straps too. He was previously in a M albion, ouch, poor horse :or

Also have a t4 pony saddle which after I changed it yesterday has an xxw bar in for my 12.3, it basically looks like a table top :D

I have the thorowgood t8 gp and dressage. Love them both, so comfy. After years of leather saddles I wasn't sure how I would get on with them but the are fantastic! X

I have a GFS Monarch and hack and jump in it. Very comfy saddle, bit of a pig to change the gullet but only had to do it once though.

I had the same problem with the wintecs, so sore. I ended up needing a treatment from my osteo after riding in one, not good!

I'd love a Wow! very jealous!

I've also got a monarch which is very comfy and gives to an xx wide fitting - got the saddler to change the gullet.

Also worth looking at Balance saddles. I've got a lovely one in the attic that is just too long for the mare, but I think they are supposed to be v good for horses that change shape as they develop.

hehe if you aren't in a hurry there are bargains to be had, i picked up my last one for £250 :biggrin3: Admittedly that was unusually cheap but I have picked up others for the £400 mark just being in the right place at the right time :)

I had a wintec gp for 6 years. It was fine, but made my bum hurt on long rides! I got to be quite good at changing the plate in it too! But horse changed shape and the tree didn't suit him anymore.

Now have a Kent and masters s series dressage saddle. It's lovely. Incredibly comfy and looks beautiful when its all clean! I've not had to change the gullet in it yet, as came with a medium wide and saddler said it was perfect. Didn't even need any flocking! I have a spring tree saddle as well that my saddler can adjust to some extent for jumping, which is lovely, but the curly f in a box stamp has left 2 saddlers and myself puzzled as to what make it is I'm afraid!

I've got a Pessoa jump that has a changable gullett which I love. I did look at a Kent and masters but they didn't suit my horse.

I have a bates elevation DS+ - definitely much better quality than a kent and masters (I tried the jump and it was horrible, very uncomfortable), would definitely recommend. I also have the bates isabell werth which again I really like. They ride nothing like a wintec.

I love my WOW saddle. You can get them cheap if you are willing to wait. I saw a jumping one a few months ago for about £500 on ebay.
