Change for the better??

Hello everyone. I'm new on here and I would love your opinions on Emily the horse's total inability to cope with change! She has been put out in the field again now after a very long winter in - sadly she can't be out all year round as I live on the Fylde coast, a very low-lying and wet area. The poor thing finds it so very difficult with a change of routine and when I got her in tonight, I have never known her so drenched in sweat from pacing. I'm currently trying the Global Herbs calmer to see if that helps. She is not alone in her field, either, she has horsey chums with her. It's so distressing to see and I know she will be fine soon, it's just this traumatic period of change that she finds it so hard to cope with. She is usually such a lazy character and it's quite upsetting to see her like this. Anyone with any similar experiences out there? Thank you so much!

Sorry to her you horse is having a bad time. Don't know specifically about the problems with changing routine, if mine have been kept in any length of time they barely get through the gate before their heads are down and they don't lift them again till I drag them in! My Mums mare is very stressy tho and she swears by a calmer called nuprafeed (I think that's what it's called) which is an oil you add to feeds. I hate it because it's sticky and makes a horrid mess in my lovely clean feed room. I've also heard of people using ovaltine to good effect think that must be down to the malt in it.

Well I've learnt something new today! Ovaltine, hey? I never would've guessed!! I might try that, a cheap alternative if it works!! Thanks for your advice.

One of our ponies is quite stressy - has a clock in her head and knows when it's time to come in. Personally I just ignore her as she will stop but if you can't then give blue chip karma a try - we used that on the most neurotic horse ever and it did the job.
