How long did it take for your passports to come back? I think mine is a record at 3 months and counting!!

Also of you are competing etc and passport is still sent away how would I get around this?!

I sent mine to Weatherbys and they returned it within the week. 3 months seems very excessive to me

mine went over to Ireland (horse registered with Irish Horse Board) and it was back within a week i think either that or bang on a week :s

3 months does seem VERY excessive

I ditto the above, mine was only a week or two!
I'd contact whoever you sent it to, to check if it's got there okay!

Mine came back within 2 weeks, BUT the PIO sent a cover note which I could produce to any authority that might need to see one.

if it is the WPCS i have been waiting nearly a year to get my change of ownership, in that year the passport has been lost either by the WPCS or the royal mail, i now need a duplicate but i cant get one because i am not the registered owner, so i have to get a letter from a solicitor to say i own her then i can get a duplicate, its a nightmare

I sent my section As off to wpcs in nov last year. The previous owner didnt change him into their name. I sent a form to owner on passport to sign from wpcs but they havnt returned it to me or wpcs.
the passport cant be put in my name without this signature. I will therefore be braking the law for not having passport in my name- and cant take him showing- they are a nightmare

Greywelshie, I can't believe you haven't done anything - or have you, and maybe the PIO have just ignored you? I'd look on their website or ring the office and ask a general question, how long will it take to effect the change of ownership paperwork? If the answer is approximately 3 weeks, then you have ammunition. Ring them and advise that every single day you face a £5,000 fine for not having the passport. Ask them for a copy of their complaints procedure. If they don't have one, ask why not for an organisation that deals with legal documents the absence of which could cost an owner £5k. Advise that you want the passport sent by special delivery and give a date. If you don't receive it by then, go public.

Don't know if you saw my post a couple of days ago where the PIO had promised my change-of-ownership passport would be sent out the next day in time for the vets scheduled visit to do 2nd flu/tet jabs. They didn't send it out and thank god my vets illegally treated my pony. The very next day, the pony developed a swollen eye and I needed the vet out as an emergency. Still no passport so again the vet had to treat the pony with no passport. I rang the PIO and you would not believe the calibre and common sense levels of the staff. I advised what action I wanted taken - after all, I'd paid for their services! It took a Team Leader to roll up her sleeves and sort it all out. The passport arrived by special delivery the very next day. I firmly believe in acknowledging good service but I also believe that too many people accept appalling service because they're too afraid to complain.

3 months is ridiculous UNLESS there is a good reason for it eg last owner untraceable, horse stolen, etc etc etc. Good luck!

There is no good reason. Fully history known and I am good friends with his owner. I paid by cheque and they have not took money yet.

I have emailed and phoned. They said it hs arrived and is processing. I asked them to send it first class but they said I had to pay extra which I didnt do as I didnt know?!
