i have always worn mountain horse long boots for riding, but today i put my short boots and chaps on. OMG what a difference!

I can now feel my pony's sides and my heels look like they are down. The only problem is that i seem to be 'reaching' for my strirups, i tried putting them up a hole but looked and felt like a jockey, and when we trotted i almost went into orbit!

has anyone else changed their foot attire and noticed this, will my leg come down longer once i get used to it or will i have to put my leathers up a hole? Has anyone else thought that chaps are better than long boots?

I'd just wait a bit, but yeah you might find you need to shorten them permanently, but you'll adjust to it. I can't ride in long boots, I find it really hard.

Ive never bothered riding in long boots, i think jod boots and chaps are just as good, and you get the movement in them that you dont from long boots. I'd just use a length that feels comfy, if needs be, make a new hole!
