I had my gelding teeth done last night and will be riding him later on. She said that his teeth had got quite long and he had a few 'hooks', so I was just wondering, will I see any difference when riding him tonight?

How did your ride go?

The first time that I had chestnut mare's teeth done (just after I bought her) there was a difference between before and after. Afterwards she was happier to take up a contact and didn't snatch at the reins so much.

I had my mares teeth done by an EDT. Before the treatment she leaned heavily on one rein and the dentist said that there was a lot that needed doing. First time I rode her after treatment was a disaster - it was like trying to ride a greased banana. I wondered what the hell I'd done and thought I'd ruined my horse. However, after a few schooling sessions there was a massive improvement and I decided it had been the right decision after all - we were both a lot happier.

So if major work has been done and suddenly everything starts to go weird, don't panic, the horse may just be trying to get used to its new teeth!
