My horse lives out 24/7 all year round. He is curently not being fed any hay/ haylage just grass and has a tiny feed for his supplements.
Today he has gone to the vets to have his hocks injected where he will then stay in for 4 days and only be eating hay
Now surely this goes against all the advice of changing feeds and routines gradually which we're always taught?
Just musings for a boring tuesday morning at work!!
(and if I'd have put hay in his filed over the last few days he wouldn't have eaten it - way too much grass!)

I personally wouldn't worry too much - maybe feed him hay in a haylage net so it has smaller holes and takes longer that way less chance of any issues. I have only had my current horse just over 6 weeks and he has been turned out throughout summer only having hay and been in a stable for a short time whilst I tacked up, the rest of the time he was just on grass. Brought him in last night and he had hay and feed this morning, I think moderation helps but I wouldn't be too concerned. hope all goes well!
