I'm changing Ethel from Alfa A Original to Alfa A Oil, and was wondering if I had to change it gradually over a few days like you do normally? I was thinking about it, and yesterday I was just assuming that as they're both chaff but only slightly different it would be fine to just swap onto it when the Original runs out, but then wondered if they're more different than I think and if the normal feed changing rule applied.

Thanks to anyone who can enlighten me :)

I'd just mix a bit of the oil one in with your Alfa A original for the last few days as it runs out, so the gut will have had some to dygest and get used to before you change over properly. (Build up the amounts gradually)

Okay so change it over as you would if changing any other feed?

I imagine they're pretty similar (except for the oil) but would mix them for a few days to introduce gradually anyway. It's not worth the risk!

I would change them over as for other feed, as there won't be as much oil (and perhaps not the same oil even), or energy etc in the other one, so the horse's gut has to get used to it the same as another feed..
