Having changed the gullet on our Thorowgood T6 on the advice of our saddle fitter a few weeks ago they finally came to do a fitting today.

After some messing around the fitter said that they couldn't undo the bolts holding the gullet in and having phoned the manufacturers it has been decided to return it to them.
Ok so i'm not a saddle fitter but I do know how to fit a bolt. How can it be that all the bolts are now cross threaded and imovable.
Any on else had this?

Pie and a pint for getting this far.:D

Not quite but i find the gullet on my T6 a nightmare to change. The first time i tried (well my o/h ended up doing it) I found it impossible. He managed to do it eventually but said the screws seemed to be cross threaded.
I have just ordered a new gullet and tbh am dreading trying to change the damn thing!
I know it now needs new screws as he tried so hard to undo them the top X bit has become damaged.

I regulary change the gullets in my fairfax (underneath it is pretty much a thorrowgood/K&M) and find it easy to change. You do have to be v careful not to cross thread the screws though. Because you can't get square onto the screw heads it is extremely easy to do. Just go carefuly and don't force them in. They should turn with baarely any resistance until they are fully in and tight.

One of the screws on my wintec was threaded. Its was the second time it had been changed, so I'm not sure if the person who changed it the first time caused it.
Luckily my OH is clever ( don't tell him I said that :) ) and he fixed it for me.
Kx
