Changing horses name?

Someone suggested Merry, I think that's lovely. Or Merrily.

The Diva was called Amber, but the previous owner nicknamed her Flo for some reason, so I called her Florence. But she answers to Flo and Diva aswell.

I hated the name Polly, but I've kept it. It's grown on me I suppose.

When I got Tobi, he was Toby, so I changed the y for a i to be a bit different.

I'm a no to name changing, cant think of a really good reason to give you as to why but it just doesnt seem right. However nicknames soon come into play on my yard and real names are rarely used. As a guy I do feel a bit of a numpty calling my horse by her name ... but I cant say anything because I brought her from my friend who is on here (sorry Sandie, lol) I much prefer her nickname Crazy ;)

Given that mine was known as Blob when I bought him and I don't like his registered name much, yes I did! It's his fifth anniversary with me tomorrow and I'm sure he would tell you he prefers the new version. His fieldmate's registered name is Nightmare, which he is not, so he doesn't go by that either!

After a technical hitch with a lack of transport I'm collecting my girl in the morning :)
She's lovely, but I'm not keen on her name. She's currently called Mary, but I have an aunt, cousin and neighbour called Mary :D It doesn't suit her at all, she is too young to be a Mary.
Would you change a name? I've always been told it's terrible luck to change a name, so I'm potentially stuck with a Mary.
Any suggestions? :)

How rude. I'm going to leave this thread in a furious huff. I think it's a very nice name, including for those under 30 :D
