Do you think it would be unlucky???

New horse is called Hampstead Lad.... the previous owner had only had him for 6 months and was calling him Socks (but he didn't come with that name)

I quite fancy calling him Iggy - cos his owner before that was called Ignatius - which is such a fab name

I hear loads of people do this, all think thats not a problem. I know a lady who even changed the registered name and a lady who I sold my dressage boy to is changing the second half of his registered name.

I say do it, especially since he had this name before...

I think changing the stable name is fine as long as the horse doesn't recognise it's current name. My old boss got so fed up with naming horses (they generally didn't have names when they arrived) and then people changing them when they were sold he just called them whatever came to mind from Chinaman to Plug!

My last mare came with the stable name Daisy

definately had to change that, and everything is fine (so far )
