Im thinking about chaging my horses name with BE, and wondered if anyone else has ever done this?
Reason being his name is quite dull and difficult to pronounce, its a belguim name and is probably as common as Dave out there.
I know there is a cost of about £150 but wondered if BE are quiet strict about the names your allowed ? As his nickname is a bit of a p*ss take.

Was you thinking BT? Go for it

Thanks for all your replies, yes saf its the BT.
Basically his nick name is Boobie (dont ask) and I think it was elles that originally added Town after it - taking the pee that he could be toytowns brother ! - We had just completed our first intro !
Do you think they would allow Boobie Town ?

Well if they said I couldnt have it I could always come up with a clever way of spelling boobie so that it didnt look rude until it was pronounced!
Becca - There is no way I could call them - would have to do it via email, id be giggling too much!

Now the public "LOVE IT"!! Esp now we have "Ickle B.T." aka the Mster!!

Booby = sea bird or lubbery lout

Can't see how they could complain Only slight change in spelling Boobie

Ps Go on you know you want to, I am dying to hear them read it out, my childish side is coming out and want to have a giggle at events

Right !!!!!! Thats it im doing it ! Will email them tomorrow ! Leyt needs to change that may to a will !
Do you think they will let me change my surname aswell - Never going to get the dressage scores I need with this name !

I knew someone who rode a horse called Naked - "Now in the ring we have number 101 Joe Bloggs riding Naked" made us chuckle! Got to have a sense of humour in this game!

SarahS - do NOT forget to get your passport for him changed too. I saw someone have no end of trouble the year before last at Bath & West because the horse was registered BE with one name and it's passport was in its stable name. They were threatening not to let it run and I think eventually they had to get the vet to check horse against passport. Total faff and some very fraught tempers!!

I have a belgium zangersheide horse who has a "z" after his name and everyone keeps asking me if I will drop the "z" when I register him with BE. I wasn't going to but am not sure now as several people have asked me?

That's weird as my horse's passport name is different from his competition name as the Passport Issuers wouldn't allow his name as it sounds like it has a company prefix (although it doesn't). Weirdly, BE and BD don't mind. For BSJA, I made it same as passport as they seem stricter. I had a spot check done at Mattingley last year to see if his flu/tet was up to date, and that vet said it was fine. Nice to know everyone is being consistent!

There used to be a couple of horses running - one called Wear The Fox Hat (say that with an Irish accent!) and the other was Norfolk Enchancer. Make's Boobie Town seem quite tame!
