we bred my kitty(fisher) and at the time when we named her it was based on Lucy's stable name (lucy Locket)(full name Staffod Locket) due to the nursery rhyme....i was 8 then and although the name suits her i do feel i've let her doen in the name department particularly as she is very well bred-dam (lucy) by Catherston Nightsafe and Kitty is by Bernwode Brokat- no offence intended but i do feel guilty that her name gives the impression that she is a common dobbin and so many other horses/ponies seem to sport these names (many of which i would not want her to be compared with). i know exactly what i would change her name to -Stafford Brokat- and exactly how i could link it to her stable name. i've competed at very low key events under this name and i am aware of the difference in espect and acknowledgement she gets for her good breeding as people recognise the names etc.

so my question is can i change her name on her passport and if not if i was to go bsja could i register her under this name???

You can use a different name for BSJA if you want to, daughters horse was Gamble at home and she chose something to remind her of her Dad to call him while he was jumping. I suppose if you bred her then you are hardly going to offend the breeder are you?

I changed the name on my youngsters passport, I think it cost about £30. Her old name remained on the passport but was underneath her new name. She had a very basic pet ID passport and was about 6 months old at the time.

interesting.... would it cost more as she is now older (8 years old) been thinking about this for the last 2/3 years and it was only the other day when a friend saw her passport and asked 'why on earth we had just called her Kitty??@ to which we reply..... Lucy locket lost her pocket, kitty fisher found it, not a penny was ther in it just a ribbon round it :D

It won't cost any more, the Equine Pet ID website has the prices if she's registered with their company. It's £10 for her name to be changed providing that your name is on the passport, if it's not then it's an extra £10 to change ownership and yet another £10 to have the owners address changed. When you change anything on the passport I believe you also have to call the company who your horses microchip is logged with.
