I have just moved to a new vets and 2 horses are undergoing treatment which is not yet complete, I have asked by phone and email for records to be forwarded, the new vets have also asked but as yet nothing has been sent, how long do we give them before making a fuss?
New vet needs to see xrays before doing more next week to see how treatment is going, bearing in mind the farrier never got sent the original ones which were needed before he shod the horse, we waited then gave up and he shod the horse without seeing them, part of the reason for moving:(.

If the xrays are digital, then they should be able to email them to you very easily.

I'd just go in to "pester" mode and keep hassling them, and be absolutely calm and objective about it, and insist that the xrays especially are needed asap to inform ongoing treatment.

And totally agree, go into the office too, especially if you don't get positive action in the next day or two. Are you speaking to the best person to bring about action - if you get no joy from the office staff, then ask to speak to one of the vets direct.

It's ludicrous that xrays were done which should have informed the farrier's work, and yet this wasn't possible because the vets didn't release the xrays. Must admit when I asked for foot xrays on one of my gang, I made it very clear that the key reason for having them done was to inform my trimming of the feet, so I wanted to be absolutely clear that they would email the xrays on to me. They agreed that would be fine, but if the xrays had not been made available after that discussion, I would have felt quite reasonable in not paying for them.

I've no idea whether vets pass on all records to a client's new practice? May be just worth focussing on what's absolutely essential for the moment (like the xrays) to get some action quickly? Or maybe just ask to speak to the vet direct if there are a few details which you want to jot down?

Good luck.
