Changing vets

I would get a referral to Gary Clayton Jones in Tenterden ,Kent. He is the absolute best in my opinion ..he used to lecture at the vet college, and probably taught Fitzpatrick! He has NEVER been wrong on any second opinion I have asked of him, including the first time, when there was "an extra bit" on the plate, which he looked at and said "oh that..that is a water mark on the plate!"

100% second this. GCJ is an amazing orthopaedic vet. He did the TPLO on my rottie and he is our 1st choice orthopaedic referral vet. You can also just refer xrays to him that you have had taken at your 1st opinion practice (obv for a fee) and he will give you his opinion. This man is worth every penny!

He also practices on a Thursday at Bayswater. xx

GCJ is the absolute best, cannot stress this too much;we are lucky he elected to stay in UK,America was itching to snap him up. So so lucky to have him within an hour`s drive.:D

That would be handy :o Spudlet, why did you change?

Just a variety of little things, and I knew the vet I was changing to was pretty good, and much more local than the old one was to me. Mostly it was because the vet that I really rated left the old practice, and from then on I never saw the same face twice, and got wildly varying advice - plus they mucked up clipping Henry's claws. It always seemed to be very young vets - there was never anyone with experience there and no way to actually see someone more than once so they never got to know your animal. The final straw was when I called the branch practice to make an appointment, got there only to find it was closed and my appointment was 20-odd miles away and they hadn't told me - not what I like to have happen on a work morning, thanks. If I'd thought Henry was getting ****-hot care I'd have let it pass but with the other factors, I just wasn't willing to put up with it any more. You pay through the nose for vets, they aren't doing anyone any favours, so my attitude is that if I'm not happy with the product, I'll take my custom elsewhere thanks. Which is pretty much what I told them when they called.

Good luck with the move.
