Had this programme flagged up after 'watching' a number of 'dog napping' incidents on-line, some with happy endings eg Cocker Spaniel Winston from Alresford in Hampshire

But well aware some disappear for good, one pedigree choc lab from near our family house in Lancashire has been missing awhile

We need more of these programmes in light of missing horses as well as dogs

Cuffey I saw this advertised tonight and thought it would be worth watching. I do think there was a similar programme a few years back and featured Bruce Forsyths daughter who had their dog stolen but I believe they paid a ransom to get it back.

As I understand it if lots of people tune in more programmes will be made.
There are a lot of issues and happenings more people need to be aware of to protect their pets

The horse passports were ''sold to us'' that having them would reduce theft--it hasnt etc

Ah, narrator has just said that the pedigree springer stolen could father pups 'worth thousands of pounds'

A) Really, really not helpful
B) Really, really not true unless said puppies poop gold....

This has really annoyed me as a springer spaniel owner:mad:
I won't dare leave Purdey alone in the house or least of all her kennel when I go out. Very irresponsible broadcasting - they need to get their facts right before putting this info out :mad:

And, we haven't paid the breeder we are getting Purdey's sister from yet - we agreed a price of £300 - he'll be doubling that now!:p

Not what I was expecting--people jumping on a band wagon to fleece the rich or vulnerable to get their pets back--well open to being abused.

I only saw the last 15 mins, I thought it started at 9, just in time to see them round up that collie so didnt get the full story. I wondered why they didnt call in the owner to help catch it or try enticing it with a friendly bitch.

DG, the current owner had only just acquired the dog, they had gone and picked it up and stopped off at mway services and it had slipped its lead. Previous owner was some distance away, still think I would have rung them to come and call it!

CC I too couldn't understand why the ESS puppies were going to be worth so much money as presumably they wouldn't be able to be registered if sired by a stolen dog anyway.

It was good to highlight to people pets do get stolen, as many do not seem to realise how common it is and leave their pets at risk. I remember reading the story about the lab in DM a while back, though was surprised they could legally just take the dog from the dog walker.

I thought the comments on the springers value were stupid. Not surprised they suspected the couple who bought their springers off travellers and were now breeding them, but they didn't appear to do a full scan for a chip when they checked.

The pet search teams attempt at catching the sheltie made me laugh, especially when the chap fell over the fence and attempting to creep up on it while wearing bright orange hi-viz lol. I'm glad they did capture safely though. It did seem a lot of money for something the cat owners especially could've easily done themselves, but i guess some may have the cash, but not the time.

They were also on Its me of the dog as VS was helping with some issues that had arisen once they got them back. I think they were stolen from her car, but could be wrong.

I watched the programme, and if I'm honest, I think the way it was filmed, narrated and possibly edited, made it seem like what the organisations were doing was a bit of a joke, and made it all look a bit trival. I was incredibly frustraited as it could have been done in a far more informative and sensible way, it almost felt a bit like a mocumentary rather than a serious issue...

I watched it last night and that's what I thought, how to 'creep up' on a predator, wear a hi-viz vest!!!

Yes I thought it was an absolute joke as well. Can you just imagine the costs involved ? The "posters everywhere" was good advice though;also tattoo or chip your pets ,get a crime number with the relevent chip/tattoo details on it.That is what I did and got most of them home.

One of the prices quoted on the TV was £1K a day, how many people can actually afford that, especially when what they do is record your voice and wander round the neighbourhood with it playing!!!
Think I may have to rethink my job!!!

So where do you leave your spaniel when you go out? I leave mine in both the house or the kennel :confused:
