Channel 5..

Seen it .... the sad horses that end up in Hong Kong .... in 24/7 .... they never said where they go after their racing life has finished there ! ?
 
And this is why ex racers are so amazing. Granted not all of them have done this but still, the fact they even got in to those crates is a pretty good example of how unflappable they can be!!
 
Damn, missed most of it!! And my horse is flying to HK with BBA in August (he's not worth £2.5 million though!!). How did it look?

Very good. They clearly know what they're doing! I wouldn't have qualms :) We sent a couple out to Saudi from work with them and they arrived in one piece too.

Can I be cheeky and ask why he's going to HK?

OH and I have been offered jobs out there, and I said I'm not going without my horse ;) I think I already have a reputation at my company-to-be!! At least they're under no illusion about my priorities...

To the person who asked what happens to the racehorses when they finish racing - a few end up in the riding schools (if you learn to ride in HK, it's more than likely that you'll be on an ex-racer as they only import a handful of ponies, steadier horses for beginners and weight-carriers). I don't know what happens to the others though, and I have to say that I wasn't keen on the scene when I went to the races there.

Wouldn'T mind that as a job 'cept I hate flying1 I was just really surprised having been told of all the damage that a chifney could do (broken jaw etc) that they didn't remove them for actual travelling.

Watching it now and can't see any of them wearing a chifney once they're loaded.
 
Considering how much care and attention was given to these horses, we were surprised at the Loading facility at Stansted. What if one got loose?
The ramps up into the travel boxes looked steep and quite frankly, dangerous.
We are not sure we would like one of our horses to end up in HK, I hope the ex racers are afforded a flight out of there.
Otherwise enjoyed the film and the graphics, a lot of new information, well worth watching if repeated.

It was the haynets on the floor right behind their back legs that worried me!

Me too, they finally had the sense to move them when one of the Horses reversed near them, as for the Chiffneys, they were only using them to load I think as didn't see any when they were travelling.

Have to say though I am shocked by the lack of hats and gloves by the grooms.

I thought the same. I only saw them loading in chiffneys, although I would too. My Tb exracer isn't lead in anything but a chiffney even at home! The thought of loading him at stanstead airport without one, or even in a bridle would scare the living daylights out of me, for both of our safetys! He is a bit of a nutter though at times!!
