As the title really, any comments good or bad, PM me if you prefer. I like the safety features built in to these little lorries, but they all look nice when they are shiney and new on a photo! (my head hurts I have done so much research on the subject!). These lorries just about fit into my budget and safety of the horse is very important to me, he is quite a drive from me though so would like any of your comments so that I can make a decision as to whether to make the drive.

Thanks in advance!

I've never heard of them (will scurry off to Google).
I live very near Worksop so could make preliminary visit if helps?
I have 7.5 t box myself.
Pm me if you like.

Yes I do.

They do the new builds for Polly Xanthos from Travel Two horseboxes. She rates them highly.

On balance I'd say I'm pretty pleased with mine (despite weather so haven't really used it). The usual issues as they are not horsemen so have made errors even though I spec'd it.

However I did have to have a MASSIVE fall out with them (it leaked like a sieve) which resulted in me taking a fair amount of telephone abuse from Marc who insisted I wasn't shutting the door properly. To be fair though his father stepped in and they drove up to me (400 miles) in the middle of the night and collected the box whilst we were sleeping and then fixed it and delivered it back (bit like the tooth fairy really). This took an awful lot of trust though although they did leave their van as security.

I'm not sure how I would have fared had I not ordered it through Polly though. Her leverage was huge. I'd certainly recommend buying through her for the extra security. It's well smart though, although they did use 0 not O for the Horses sign LOL - just as well I've got a sense of humour really. You do get a lot of 'bang for your buck' and from a safety perspective (I have youngsters) its excellent and has 1.2 tonne of payload also. Can't really knock that now can you?

Thank you all for your feedback! Glad to see no real horror stories! Scarymare, Chapmans are a couple of hours from me and Polly is several hours further! I must admit the fact that Polly was selling them was one of the reasons I looked into them in the first place as she seems to have pretty high standards when it comes to 3.5t horseboxes. I need a few alterations on the design to standard though (for carrying dippy youngsters) so need to buy one direct from them (if I go down that road), going to visit soon and discuss it with them. Thanks for your honest feedback, glad you got your problem sorted eventually, pity they couldn't just have sorted it without the bad feeling as I think (well with me anyway) reputation is everything in an area like this. It is a lot of many to part with and I can't afford to get it wrong! Really hope we can maintain the 1.2 payload!

Hi there!

I would just like to take the time to defend myself and my team in light of the recent comments made by a customer on this post. I am deeply saddened by the comments made by the lady in question. I admit a small leak was discovered, which was completely regretable and not a reflection of the good work we produce.

When the lady in question contacted me I was keen to quickly get to the route of the problem by asking questions to diagnose the fault. One of these was the simple question of whether the door had been left ajar by mistake. This may have caused offence, but was only a genuine route of enquiry and was not meant to offend.

The box itself was collected two working days after the fault was reported and then was delivered back one week later. Personally I think this reflects great customer service given the two 800 mile round trips involved.

I feel that during my correspondence with the customer I was polite and professional.

I have dealt with the Chapman family for many years over business matters and can say Mark and Ian are both absolute professionals.

I do hope the post above from Chapman horseboxes clarifys everything :)

I would not hesitate to have further dealings with them.

Great, shall we expect to also hear from their Aunt, Brother, Great Uncle Cyril and the family cat now as to how good they are ;)

With 3.5t horseboxes it’s always a good idea to ask on what payload you will get before you make you mind up. Check the weight of your horses to make sure you would not be overweight with them and tack. Some 3.5t vehicles are made of very light weight materials so you can get any sort of payload, but in certain places this can be hazardous.
Check how strong the bulkhead between the driver and horse is as if you brake hard you might have a horse sat on your back (have seen one that tried).
Haven’t seen one built by them so i don’t no how they build theirs.

Seeing as I'm Polly Mallender and no relation to the Chapmans I think your comment is inaccurate... Also, they don't have a cat, they have a dog.
