Huge blonde moment on my part! :o

Can somebody help me pretty please, as I really don't understand 'exactly what I need to register as'. I did email CHAPS last year throwing umpteen questions at them, and I received an email back telling me to read the FAQS page and it should answer my questions. I had looked at everything before I emailed them, and looked again afterwards, but I still didn't understand it in its entirety! :o

This was my email:
Hi, next year I want to go to a few shows where I need my pony to be registered with yourselves (for example, Great Yorkshire and Lincolnshire shows). He is passported with your society, (Foxisle Rocky), but am I right in assuming that is different to being a member? Once you are a member, I assume it is an annual renewal, or is it a life time membership?

I did look at your fees but got confused! I am his owner, would I need to be registered with you? I ask because I broke my ankle really badly last year and I am unable to run, therefore unable to show him inhand myself, and I ask various friends to be his handler in the ring for me. Bearing this in mind, am I supposed to attain membership for them too? Or if my pony is registered, is that all what is required, and I can get non-members to still show him for me and be eligible for qualifers or not?

I should be grateful if you can help!

Many thanks, Laura xx

The horse needs to registered, is the passport an original or and overstamped one?
#

the person showing the horse needs to be registered.

you as the owner needs to be registered

plus a new member ship is charged on the first application. (so both of you in this case)

IF your not trying for the HOYS qualifiers or likley to go then you do not Need to be registered atall to compete in the county level classes.

It is an original passport. His breeder passported him with them when he was born, and I transferred it into my name when I bought him. I pressume this will be classed as a life time membership for him then?

My only issue is which friend to list as a member. Last year I had 5 different friends showing him for me. I asked various people as I didn't like to put too much pressure in 'expecting' just one friend to do it. Hmmmm.... I hate decisions! Need to talk to them I think!

That's easily done! :D

Right you are - thanks for explaining that - I would have probably only sent a single fee if you hadn't have said! Simpleton alert! :o

I wanted to be fully registered with them as I want him to qualify for things. He had qualified for the PUK Winter Champs 2011 in the autumn 2010, and I had two weeks to register with CHAPS for the qualification to be valid. After much consideration I decided to hold off in the end. I was gutted as it was an opportuntiy of a life time for me, but with the time of year and it being so far away from where I live, I decided to let this one go. :(

Now the show season is fast approaching, I want to grab each opportuntiy as it comes! I don't know whether he will be lucky enough to qualify for PUK Summer Champs or HOYS, but I would LOVE to be in a position if he was placed we could go!

I really appreciated your help, everything is a lot clearer now, thank you so much! xx :D
