CHAPS stallion grading what it involves???!! Any advice please!

I have recently purchased a miniature coloured colt who i would like to keep as an entire and use him as a stud! I have just joined chaps and would like to know wether or not it is worth trying to get him graded and what this involves. Any advice would be fantastic!

I don't know an awful lot but I know that a lot of work goes into the grading preparation as my YO produces coloureds and has put many mares and stallions through CHAPS gradings. Obviously with the ridden ponies I'd imagine there is more work to be done, so it may not be as difficult for a miniature.

As far as I know, I don't think you can show an ungraded stallion with CHAPS, so if you want to show with them, I think you will have to get him graded. Although don't take my word for that.
Also, I don't think that your boy's progeny can put his name on on their passport as their sire, if they are passported with CHAPS, if he is not graded.

Might be worth having a word with her, or someone similar, to see what they think. They'll be able to tell you what is needed, the pros and cons of doing it, etc.
