Charging for trailer parking?

Do all yards charge for trailer/lorry parking and how much? Friend of mine says her yard doesn't any more as they have a lawyer as a livery and she said something about it being the yard's liability if anything happened to the trailer/lorry if they are charging/making a profit out of parking, can anyone enlighten me?
 
I hadn't heard of that either, would be interested to hear more. Our yard charges £3 per week, I never kept my trailer there when I had it as I kept it at home but my friend keeps hers there sometimes.

not sure about the liability issue , if our lorry was stolen off the yard I would hope the insurance would pay up regardless as to whether I paid to store it or not

Yes agree but it's something to do with the fact that they are making a gain, we need a legal person to look at this! May put the post on New Lounge too as seems to be more people looking at that! keep looking!

I cannot believe that - otherwise everytime you went shopping and your car was parked somewhere they would be liable.

Probably the case that the yard would need insurance in case, for example, a tractor ran into one, or a wall fell on it etc. However with NFU insurance, that should be covered.

You would not be liable if some broke in or stole the vehicle / trailer.
 
Our yard charges £22 a month for a trailer and £35 for a lorry. They are kept in a locked compound on the yard. We have previously had breakins and trailers stolen and the yard owner was never made liable although he did increase security
