(hoping this is a legal posting as in aid of charity?)
If anyone is interested, a group of us are running a party on cross-country day of the Olympics (with lunch, big screens, bar, charity auction etc) in aid of Newbury Riding for the Disabled. It is at Hillfields Farm in Upper Basildon, near Pangbourne (great venue, and the owners Mr and Mrs Steljes are kindly letting is use it for free as in such a good cause). There are a VERY limited number of tickets for the event left (£30 per person, including lunch), so please contact the email address in the publicity info (see link below) if you are interested in coming. All proceeds to Newbury RDA - and we also have a prize draw with some amazing prizes running alongside it. Again, let us know if you would like to buy prize draw tickets.

PS Is anyone else orghanising anything similar? Would be interesting to hear how different people plan to watch the event if they arent going to be there.

It sounds like it will be a great day. Would love to come but I think too far from where we are staying at other side of London. Anybody else out there having similar events to watch cross country day of Olympics. Would be great to watch with other like minded fans who did not get cross country tickets.

We still have about 30 tickets left (out of 150) for our party near Pangbourne. Booking can either be for individuals - or if a group of you want to get together and have a table, each table seats 10. Its going to be a great day (and we have outside space for if it is good weather - but plenty of food and drink and big screesn indoors).

EventRidersAssociation is running something similar in the Midlands. Just finalising details and then advertising, it's subsidised, going to be £25 a head, including lunch, beer/lager/wine, tea, big marquee, huge TV screen to watch the action. Should be a fantastic atmosphere for those of us who can't be at Greenwich.

Just be aware that you CANNOT use the word Olympics in any advertising apparently, it's a total no-no...
good luck with the fund raising for such a worthwhile charity!

We've been really careful not to use the official logo or anything, so hopefully we arent contraveniing any rules. Good thing is it is totally for charity, the owners of the venue are donating the use of it for free, so nobody makes a penny, so hopefully we are ok. Glad other places doing similar things, it is much more fun watching an event like that with a group of interested people - just hope we (Team GB) win! We have based what we are doing on the sort of thing EHOA do at Burghley - good quality food, screens, lists of starters, etc. Oh, and home made cakes of course...
