Anyone been?

It says open all year, and was thinking of a ride during xmas hols, will it be a bog after all the rain or worth a trip?
Thanks

It does get pretty wet and sticky there, but if you phone before you go he will let you know what the ground is like. They do move the jumps around so the ground stays better.

What about Crow Wood, thats on an all weather surface? Or the Somerford winter ride, they have a good few fences on that now and its all on Sand.

Thanks L, i know Crow Wood is now quite poor on some landing and take off's with some very deep, sounds like they need to move the jumps around a bit.

sounds like somerford might be best, but its furthest away. Just really looking to have a school before starting to make plans!!

Prob see what the weather is like, might just want to curl up in front of the fire if its wet and windy!!

There is also a small course at Hesketh Bank, not sure how that holds up in the winter thou - there is bu**er all round me for XC! Definitley planning to go to Somerford in the holidays (120 mile round trip) and will do a boxing/new years day hunt depending on the weather.

Where abouts are you?

About 6 miles from Crow Wood!! Similar distance to somerford for me

Not sure i dare hunt, who will you go out with? Have a baby who'd prob explode, and an oldie i need to nurse to keep ok

Am quiet at work at mo, so surfing for something to do over hols and in jan (and all of next year!!)

kelsall hill is good have you been there?

somerford's winter ride doesnt have any BIG jumps thery're all pretty same old same old the summer ride is good though!!

theres also cheshire view farm ride but that wasnt brill some okay jumps but not great...

theres also cheshire riding school do one but never been

then theres craven country ride lisa did you go??

i am gutted i couldnt go to that waited since the summer!

As well as Kelsall Hill (which pretty well always has good ground for the farm ride - though not always a huge number of jumps) there's also Willow Park ride / XC in Bold Heath (not sure of the ground conditions there but think they do have good take offs/ landings)
